View Full Version : How many WB cartoons are in your collection?

This thread only counts the cartoons released by Warner Bros. from 1929 to 2000. Other studios do not count. Movies do not count.

This poll is mainly for people who have a goal of collecting all the WB cartoons. Of course, other people are welcome to vote, so don't feel left out.

You probably know what I voted for without looking at the poll results.;)

I've got almost everything, except for classic 3 LT/MMs, a handful of the special shorts, and most of the 90s shorts. I even bought every TV special that was released on VHS. So I guess 1000+ is the right number for me.

TV specials are not really WB cartoons, because they are classic cartoon ripoff compilations. But you are still 1000-1030 if you have all but 3 classics.

I feel like an idiot. I'm recording cartoons off CN when they're edited. I'm just a kid. Once I get a job (probably in a few months, im only 13) I'll buy some PD's with good quality and like they say, the west is histowy!

I'm just a kid, but I have 976. There are many sources out there other than television.

I voted for between 925-974. I've been able to get more than half of it alone, but the trades I've been doing really help.

I have 976, but that's pretty good considering I had only 226 on September 19, 2000. Most of them were recorded from CN, but I also got some from eBay, and did a tape trade since then.

Well, I can tell you the number's pretty high up there.I only have a handful to go. Most of them don't look like easy-to-find titles, but there are some I have just missed on Cartoon Network the first time around. I don't really care about those TV specials, or most of the movies except "Space Jam", because they are so terrible. All I've ever seen from those butcher shows is a bunch of clips and bad linking animation. The only specials I enjoyed were "Christmas Tales" and "Lunar Tunes". I also like "Looney Looney Looney Bugs Buny Movie" and "Bugs Bunny Road Runner Movie", but only minimally. What I DO want to pick up sometime is 'Bugs Bunny Superstar"....is that any good?

Sufferin' Succotash! Matthew Hunter is missing more than me! Was he really collecting since 1996?

I selected the last choice. I have been collecting these things for over ten years now, and thanks to several people here, that I've traded with, my collection is nearly complete. I recently added Norman Normal and some of the misc. stuff like Drafty Isn't It. I'm only missing 2 of the classics, Hocus Pocus Pow Wow and Injun Trouble (1969), plus the latest four, Father of the Bird, Another Froggy Evening, Pullet Surprise and Little Go Beep.
Although there are a few unedited and B&W originals I am still hunting for such as Africa Squeaks, Buddy's Circus, Porky's Ant, etc.

I am very impressed at the people who have amassed their collections so quickly. I would hate to think what would happen if I had to start my collection all over again today.

You are in England, that alone may present a challenge for you. I heard of the "character law" that takes place there. Good luck! You'll need it...

But then again, I still need a lot of luck, too:o

Don't forget about me, doc!

I am in the same boat as Rhapsody Rabbit. I have copies of every classic WB cartoon short in some form with the exceptions of "Hocus Pocus Pow-Wow" and "Injun Trouble" (the one with Cool Cat). That may be changing soon, though. :)

I also don't have the modern shorts that are not available on video ("Pullet Surprise", "Father of the Bird", etc.) or a few of the miscellaneous shorts (like "The Door" and "90 Day Wandering").

Even though they don't count, I also have a few episodes of The Bugs Bunny Show, copies of nearly every TV special, all the movies, and a bunch of odds and ends (like TV commercials and TV show theme songs).

I have around 800-850. Only 15-20 are taped from TV. (Traded for these). All the rest are either on VHS or LaserDisc.

Come on, now! Admit that you are lying! I believe rhapsodyrabbit, Brian Cruz, and Jon Cooke are being honest. They would not lie. On the other hand, some regular members with small collections are probably placing themselves in the 1000-1030 range.

Who would do such a thing?

I'm not lying. Why would I do that? To impress people I don't know. What would i have to gain from that?

I voted for 450-599. I haven't collected very long, and I'm in no big hurry at the moment to get them all.

I believe Glenn when he says he has most of them, and welcome to the boards!

Thank You Jack. I've been collecting for about 10 years. I been a member here since the end of May. The only ones that I have traded for, I traded with Jon about 1 - 1 1/2 yrs ago. I do not like to tape them off TV because of the cuts that are made. PD tapes aren't so bad either.

The reason I'm missing around 100 or so is mainly because I haven't been collecting them religiously since 1996...no, I first started taping them around 1998, and wasn't planning to collect them all until fairly recently. My main problem is the switchover from having LT's available on on 4 channels at the time (Nick, WB, ABC, Cartoon Network) to only 2 (ABC, CN) to just CN, and there are some times I want to kick myself for not watching and taping everything when it was on those channels. It also didn't help that Nick didn't run Looney Tunes at a time when I was available to watch or tape them until those last few months toward the end of its 11 year existence. And ABC was always a week behind on the Bugs Bunny episodes and aired them at 5 in the morning, and it didn't work for me because our vcr's timer didn't work right until we got a new one, which was toward the last days of that show too. I hated the Kids WB episodes because they screwed with the titles for no reason other than to annoy me. I had never thought to tape the cartoons at all until so recently, because I could watch the cartoons whenever the heck I wanted, I mean, if I really had a craving for Looney Tunes, there were plenty of opportunities on every channel, even the local ones that had PD and syndicated titles for a while. And of course, the Nickelodeon episodes that ran after school every day for almost 2 or 3 years running. Who would have ever thought that Speedy Gonzales would be rare 5 years ago? I remember getting sick of him because he was on all the time. Anyway, trades through people I've met here have been invaluable, and the rare one-shot Acme Hours and LN B/W show have also been a help recently.
-Matthew

Oh, and Jon, what does, ";) ' mean about those two cartoons? Have you found some source for those? If so, you'd have to be some kind of detective. Or did you hire Duck Twacy?

I know of at least two other people having over 1000, because I helped them with their collections. I only know their real names and not their TTTP handles. I have a feeling that there could be some people who voted on the poll and did not reply to the post. They probably will not come back into this thread to read these replies, since they already voted.

I haven't counted recently, but I think I've got between 650 and 700 LT/MM. Most of what I need can be easily taped off CN( for example I've only got about five or six Roadrunners and Foghorn Leghorns) but I still need some Speedys, Boskos, Buddys and the ever elusive Norman Normal.

I have 897. These are split between VHS, Laserdisc and CartoonNetwork. Of course the Speedy, Speedy with Daffy, Bosko and Buddy's represent the large holes in my collection. Its unnerving to realize that Nickelodeon was running many of the Speedy's just a little while ago!

Picking up PD tapes and trading is the only way I'll slowly pick up the rest.
