Ok folks here's my situation. Two different times when I have been playing Batman: Vengeance the games freezes up and starts making this high-pitched buzzing sound. I can't reset and I can't pause, I have to turn the power off.

The two incidents were several weeks apart and I played the game in between the two times with no problems. My other two games (Spider-Man and Rogue Leader in case you were wondering :) ) have not given me any problems.

So theories? Ideas?
I have just about eliminated long use because this time I hadn't even been playing for an hour yet.
I try to look at the disc and I don't think I see any scrathes, but one can never be sure.

Don't know... sounds like a problem with the cd, not the system...

but, (stupid question) did you go to Nintendo.com and try to look up the problem... or did you call the customer service at 1-800-255-3700 (think that is it)
...I have no idea on that... especially several weeks apart!!!

Yeah, it sounds like the disc. Just return the disc for a new one and see what happens. I had a used controller for the Dreamcast do something weird like that once (it would blow out the controller ports), but I just returned it and now everything's fine.

I had that happen to me w/ Extreme G3--found out why. The Cube was resting on a source near/close to a subwoofer (OK OK..it was ON the subwoofer). did the EXACT same thing you're talking about. maybe it was getting rumbled and the laser skipped...

dunno. but I'll tell ya--my brother imported this Cube, and I haven't had ANY trouble with it--even w/ the controller...and we even modified it.. :D

anywho...try taking the disc back if you can--it might help.

My friend's PS2 did the SAME thing while we were playing Tekken Tag..We thought the system was broken.

Speaking of problems with NGC.... I was playing Smash Bros. Melee yesterday. I was playing as Dr. Mario in adventure mode when I decided to do a safe reset (L+R+A+Start). Then I see a screen pop up and it says my memory card is damaged. What the hell? Then I check my memory card and it won't work! Trust me, never buy stuff from Interact....

ouch. i have 2 interact cards---the smaller ones. Haven't had a problem w/ them yet..*crosses fingers*

I'll tell ya what pissed me off. I bought a InterAct PS2 memory card (Meijer was charging $35 for the Sony one..should've been $25...) and then I get it home and find out you have to put a disc in the PS2 before using the memory card everytime...EVERY time. I was like "like heck" so I took it back, went to Best Buy and got a Sony one (THERE it was $25).

Oh is it the Interact 16x memory card? I had a crapload of problems with mines corrupting my data and making me reformat the card (losing all my data in the process!!!  ). Apparently it's a relatively common problem.

I emailed the interact customer service people. They were really great. They let me send it back and they sent me a new one. However, I couldn't trust the card no more so I wound up selling it off anyway. I'm gonna wait til the 241 card comes out. Which is still pretty small compared to the 16x, but I guess i can trust it (hopefully). What's up with Nintendo's teeny mem cards?

dang, really? I have 2 of the small cards (I said that already I know)--the 128block ones. They work good..so far.

As for Nintendo's small cards..I was able to fit 8 games onto my first memory card. It's the sports games that suck up the data...

The stuff that takes up room is stupid stuff like Custum Characters, and PIKMIN.. Of all the games I own, PIKMIN took up the most room. I've fit all my games on the card no problem.

The only game I've had a problem with is Gauntlet - The Dark Legacy. Every once and a while, oddly enough, it'll actually... freeze. I assume it's the game, rather than the system, but I've never heard of this problem before.

*shrug*

The biggest problem I've had is a brand new TV connector go bad.

I've had that problem as well, but with my DC. Of course, I wouldn't really blame that on the system itself.

I haven't had a problem with my GC either... if I had to guess, it would be that the disk pooped out.

Anyhow, I'd like to say that people should never, ever buy third-party memory cards... they're reverse engineered and, therefore, completely buggy. Pretty much all the pro game sites will tell you the same thing. It sucks to pay more for cards from Sony or Nintendo, but... at least they're reliable.

it's a disc defect. if the disc came out, the gcn would tell you. i had a problem with ssx tricky. it froze once. my biggest problem with my gcn was loss of controller rumble. it started rumbling after i bought ssx.

Some of the early Rogue Leader discs had a problem much like this. It would just freeze randomly, or do crazy polygon corruptions on-screen. Mine was doing this and I took it back. No more problems! :D

see..that's strange. I bought my RL game from LucasArts.com, and I recieved it 2 days before the release date--and I have YET to get a error with it..and I completed the game! I must be a lucky one... :D

It was only one batch of the discs. For the most part, nobody had problems with 'em. There was only a certain amount produced that were flawed. I guess I was my usual lucky self and nabbed a flawed one. :D

How long were you playing the thing?Sometimes if I play mine too long it gets overheated and it does that.
