Ok, let's see from cartoon characters where simillar names where a another cartoon character.

Example:

Milo in the cartoon "Crow Crazy" (1945)

Simillar to Milou (forget the U) (Snowy) in the series The Adventures of Tintin.

Also, there was Sylvester the dog in "Hare Force." Actually, that's not a SIMILAR name. It's EXACTLY the same as a certain lisping pussy cat. I'll try to think of some better examples.

"Egghead" (from some late 1930s Merrie Melodies)
"Egghead Jr." (from a few Foghorn Leghorn cartoons)

Betty Boop had a boyfriend named Bimbo in the '30s Fleischer shorts...but I've got a PD tape featuring a short called "Bimbo's Auto". This Bimbo is taller and dumpier, and may be from the same studio that made Casper shorts (the first two cartoons on the tape star the Friendly Ghost). Very surprising the first time I saw it, expecting the boop-boop-a-doop girl....

Sylvester was originally called Thomas, and Tom was originally called Jasper. Except for the old geezer with the mile-long beard on The Simpsons, one doesn't hear the name "Jasper" much these days....

Then there's Brain the world-domination scheming lab mouse, and Brain, Inspector Gadget's faithful dog whom he never recognized in a disguise....

Jay Ward's Tennesee Tuxedo was an intelligent zoo penguin whose buddy was a dimwitted walrus named Chumley....on Digimon, Kazu has a funny habit of referring to Takato as "Chumley"....

Well in the "not just similar but out and out identical" realm, how could we forget "Tom And Jerry" of Van Beuren and of course Metro's "Tom and Jerry"...
