I recently stumbled across a website that featured a review of several toys, among them an Ares action figure (as in the God of War villain from Wonder Woman comics). Also featured were Cheetah and some other Greek Godess/Woman who's name I just don't recall. I'm very interested in that Ares figure, and would very much appreciate some info on it. The DC Direct website doesn't seem to feature it anywhere. Thanks :)

The other woman would probably be Artemis, who is neither the goddess Artemis nor the daughter of the Sportsman and the Huntress/Tigress (this daughter later changed her name to Tigress as well). This version of Artemis is an amazon from the lost tribe of Bana-Migdhall who took over the job of Wonder Woman when Hippolyta had a vision that "Wonder Woman" was going to die, so she wouldn't let Diana be Wonder Woman any more. Artemis as Wonder Woman did in fact die, but as all comics characters do, she got better.
Sorry for the digression.
What else do you want to know about this Ares action figure? It was released quite a while back (about a year or two, I'd say off hand) in a wave of Wonder Woman toys (Cheetah, Ares, and Artemis). It accurately represents the character from the comics.

Thank you so much for replying!!! :) :) :)
Well, I'm specifically interested in the Ares figure. About how much did it cost, what's the articulation like, what accessories did it come with, where online can I find reviews or pictures of it and do you think I'd still be able to order it or find it somewhere? Thanks!

It cost about $10-$15. DC Direct figures are more expensive than figures that you would find in a toy store, since they don't get the same volume of sales (although, apparently some DC Direct figures may trickle into toy stores; the DC Direct Wonder Woman has already appeared in Kay-Bee stores, for example).
Articulation: I don't recall. DC Direct figures tend not to have a whole lot, but there's always some.
Accessories: the only one I can think of is his big ol' axe. (He also comes with a sword, as I found out after finding a picture.)
Where to see or buy: One thing I have learned is that anything is available on eBay. Doing a search for "dc direct ares", I got the following results:
DC Direct Ares eBay auctions (http://search-desc.ebay.com/search/search.dll?MfcISAPICommand=GetResult&query=dc+direct+ares&ht=1&itemtimedisp=1&st=2&SortProperty=MetaNewSort&SortOrder=d&srchdesc=y&BasicSearch=)
There are a handful of people selling Ares, and some have decent pictures of the figure.

Thanks! Is that 10-15$ Canadian or American? And also, isn't it possible to order DC Direct figures through a "Previews " catalogue? Basically, I'd like to avoid Ebay on this one, but still find a way to get the fig.
Thanks again, you've been so helpful! ;)

Dollars: well, obviously since I didn't specify which nation, I must be one of those arrogant Americans who think the whole world revolves around the U.S. :) In other words, American dollars.
It is possible to order upcoming DC Direct toys through Previews through your local comics shop. However, it is generally not possible (afaik) to order figures that have already come out. So, if you were interested in the upcoming Uncle Sam, Phantom Lady, and Blue Beetle figures... or the upcoming Chameleon Boy, Sun Boy, and Ultra Boy figures... then, you could use Previews. But since Ares has already been out for a while, I don't think you can use Previews to order Ares. However, I could be wrong, since you can sometimes back-order items, so you'd have to check with your local comics shop.
Avoiding eBay: well, I'm sure that there are some online toy stores that would be willing to sell Ares to you, but I don't know any, since I do everything through eBay if I can.

Howdy,
I know www.midtowncomics.com and www.tfaw.com (Things from Another World) both have pretty extensive on-line catalogs including toys. You might check them out for Ares. Alternately, I'm visiting my Friendly Neighborhood Comic Shop tonight or tomorrow, and can keep my eyes peeled for an Ares figure for you, if you like.
I think the DC Direct figures are very cool, and definitely oriented more for the adult collector than for a kid playing Batman with them. I have the DC Direct Hawkman/Hawkgirl set, and Hawkman has 10 points of articulation (neck, 2 shoulders, 2 elbows, 2 hip-joints, 2 wing joints, and 1 waist joint), while Hawkgirl has 6 (same as Hawkman, but minus the elbows). Some have more and some have less. They also usually (but not always) have neat gear; the Hawks came with interchangable Golden and Silver Age helmets and a mace/shield combo.
