O.k...Dr. Pepper...REALLY! What is SO original about it? all of their new commercials.."be original"...what the..????
Dr. Pepper ain't so original....sure, they may be the first drink to carbonate prune juice, and sell it to masses of children...but, otherwise...what is so original about it?

It's just the fact that it truly IS an original taste. It isn't cola, it isn't lemon-lime, etc. Personally, I think it tastes like a random chemical... which it is... but a rather bad random chemical. I can't stand it.

Actually, I can't think of anyone that truly likes the stuff.

Dr. Pepper is prune juice? I would've loved to hear the marketing plan for that when it was first introduced in some meeting.

You are so right! THOSE SILLY COMMERCIALS DRIVE ME INSANE!!! As if it wasn't bad enough to have to listen to Garth Brooks, he also has to turture us with the silly refrain "Be you...do what you do.." !?!?!

At least Britney doesn't even pretend to be sincere in her commercials. She jumps around wearing the most ugly, revealing outfits she can find and then chimes "Pepsi...for those who think young!" It's fake....much like soda drinks. They don't refresh...they aren't very enjoyable...it's like alcohol lite. People wouldn't drink them as much if they weren't such a culture phenominon. I can live without Coke Pepsi and Dr. Pepper any day....just don't take away my Crush! :p

Indeed. I actually prefer most juice to soda, oddly enough...

Here's where I put the random information in my head to good use:

1) There is no prune juice in Dr. Pepper. Not a lick. That's a rumor along the lines of Mountain Dew lowering mens' sperm count. It's just a rumor. Check the ingredients on the can if you don't believe me.

2) Dr. Pepper is the oldest soft drink still on the market today. It was first sold in 1885 in Waco, Texas.

Hence it's the "original." Ergo, to "Be Original" is an appropriate slogan for the drink.

As to the quality of the ad campaign, I cannot comment. Haven't seen any of the commercials yet (I don't watch much TV these days). But I'm sure they're nothing if not forgetful.

Which brings up another point... am I the only one that remembers the "Just what the doctor ordered!" campaign?

Now that was an add campaign you could be proud of....

Remember when they'de show a bunch of freakish-sweaty teens dancing around like loonies? Then they'd show a Dr. Pepper? Ahhh....thats refreshing....

Here in Texas Dr Pepper is really popular, probably because it originated in this area.

this is like those sprite commercials that say 'obey your thirst' when they say nothing in the commercial about the soda! it's just a bunch of guys rapping, and all of the sudden tehy hold up a sprite and say 'obey your thirst'.

What is Dr. Pepper supposed to taste like anyway? Been awhile since I had one to remember.

It's not really supposed to taste like anything, but some say that it is like Cherry Cola or--as you can tell from the false rumors--prune juice.

Dr Pepper is also independent. It is not owned by Coke or Pepsi. I think that's another thing about it that could be considered original. It's like the underdog of sodas. :wakko:

There's also its "cousin", Mr. Pibb.

The supermarket I shop at has their own version of Dr Pepper. It's called "Dr. Perfect". How original

I like Mr. Pibb better. Dr. Pepper hurts my stomach if I do not drink it w/ eating something.

You are right, Dr. Pepper is its own company. Coke and pepsi compete in each reigon to see who gets to bottle it. That is why sometimes you see it in a Coke machine and sometimes in a Pepsi machine. If Coke didn't win in a certain reigon, then they sell their Mr. Pibb.

The only pop I drink is Pepsi for the most part. I also like Sierra Mist (Pepsi's version of 7up/Sprite). I HATE Coke and all coke related drinks except for Mr. Pibb.

There's only one so-dee commercial that I can stomach... and that's the 7-Up commercials. The rest of them could probably take some notes from the guys that dreamed their current market campaign up.

Oh... and I like Dr. Pepper. Go fig. :D

I also like Pepsi, but I want to throw heavy objects at my TV everytime I see Britney jumping around like a moron during her commercials.

I have to say that I'm a pretty big soda drinker and do enjoy the taste of Dr. Pepper. Granted I don't like it as much as say Mr. Pibb but it does have it's own unique flavor that is hard to copy. The "original" thing really does fit the drink and is an appropriate campaign for the company.

Does anyone remember the "I'm a Pepper!" ad campaign for Dr. Pepper? I'm not sure when it was but I have a t-shirt that has that slogan on the front.
Most of the time, I prefer Mountain Dew, but on rare occasions I grab a Dr. Pepper. Its not horrible, but does have a strange taste.

I drink Dew and Faygo. I don't drink any dark colored sodas.

I like Mountain Dew. I think their add campaign is...well...reasonable. That "dumb guy vs. ram" thing always gives me a grin. And they've stuck with the "Do the Dew" slogan...which is probably as good as it gets. I dont like the whole "5 guys running around like idiots" stuff. I prefer the "Guy chases down a cheeta" stuff....heh...

Sprite...."Obey your thirst". Well...o.k, but if I'm gonna do that, I'm not going to drink Sprite. Thank you for the advice!

Britiny Spears selling Pepsi...I thought she was selling breast implants or something like that?

Coca Cola...What are they doing right now? I dunno...does Coca Cola really NEED to advertise anymore? I mean..its Coke. Sure, it tastes aweful...but..still, everyone drinks it.

7up...hate the drink, love the commercials(well...actually, I do enjoy Cherry 7up...yeah...).

I think all Root Beer commercials have been the best...y'know? Like Mug's "Goes straight to your brain" stuff. Remember the one with the boss guy who's name was "Dumbass", but it was pronounced "doom-aus"?? haha...that was funny.... :p

According to the Food Network, Dr. Pepper was meant to be served hot. I actually enjoy it more hot, but the smell is enough to wake the dead, trust me on that one. As far as jingles go...

I do! Everybody sing! "I'm a pepper, he's a pepper, she's a pepper, they're a pepper..."

(PS: If I have to be a pepper, can I be one of the habeneros peppers? :D)
