i know that walking the dog is a necessity so do you walk your dogs around the same place all the time? do you know if the dogs get bored at walking around the same place?

Dogs like the same things. They don't get bored. They aren't like people. They are just happy to happy to be there.

Whenever I take my dog out for a walk it's always around the same block. She doesn't seem to mind because she's too happy to be out of the backyard. For myself I'll alter the route slightly depending on how I feel that day. :)
Sometimes I let my dog "run away" cuz she likes to be free - She always comes back to our house when I call for her. I wish we dodn't live in this stupid neighbourhood where pepole call the cops on you for farting!
Another question - Do you think it would be ok to cut my dog's hair for the summer? Her coat is rather thick and I could imagine that she is hot. Does it itch the dog to cut their hair?
thanks

Dogs are creatures of habit -- they thrive on routine, but to an extent, just like people. Walking them around the same area is wonderful, as they expect things to be in a specific place and they've set up a pattern. Of course, like any animal on the face of the planet, change is good -- so taking them to the park, or walking in a different direction around the block, or whatnot, is also fine by them. If your pup's in a rutt, though, you'll know it -- he/she will get kind of despondent, and won't take as much interest in your walk (maybe causing you to walk much farther for that little present you're after).
Oh, Fish --- trimming your dog is a pretty fine thing -- even just brushing out the coat will relieve some of that extra dead hair and keep her a lot cooler. As for itching when you cut it -- well it's like getting your hair cut, if you leave the excess hair there without brushing it out, it's gonna drive her mad. But be careful if you trim her to not go overboard, it isn't exactly the healthiest thing to do if you have her in the sun alot -- she could get a sunburn.
Uh... sorry... didn't mean to sound like the leading dog expert, but... um, I'll go away now....

Naw. It's a good way for the pup to mark it's territory.

For the most part, me and the dog keep a routine. Occasionally, I'll take her on a farther block and once in a blue moon i'll take her on a good hike through the woods or on a mountain, but 95% of the time, its same old same old, that way if she decides to be a bad dog and run off, she can find her way back.

Dogs do love a sense of familiarity, esp. males, who like to re-mark their territory now and again. In my old neighhborhood, part of one of the routes I used went past the vet's office, so my beagle would get very leery about a half block from the building, steeling himself just in case I crossed that road.
The dogs I currently have aren't leash-trained, but I do take them jogging 20-30 min. 2-3 times a week, always on a particular path.
Haircuts and baths are often a necessary evil...dogs hate them but in the long run will thank you (although their mates might not acknowledge them if they smell/look too different--big downside there)....

when you say that, are you saying that that dogs use the road as their personal toilet?

Same here. :p
I almost always walk my dog around the same area. He doesn't seem to care. He's gotten so used to it that he actually tugs on the leash and starts to turn in that direction before we even get there. (like when we're about to turn a corner) The people in my neighborhood are stupid. They always bother me and my dog when we walk by. Sometimes I just wanna smack those dumb people! I actually grabbed this one kid and shoved a taco in his face (I'd just gotten back from Taco Bell) because he's always throwing crap at my dog. I know it was mean, but it felt so gooood. :p
He deserved it...the little punk.
