Well, I'll have to drop JL Adventures,it just iisn't worth it. I'm not sure Gotham Knights will be after Devin Grayson leaves. Guess I'll just have to play it by ear...

What bothers me is that I prefer DC to Marvel, and yet Marvel seems to be doing more for the consumer. Not fair.

Not being a fan of the Bat-books (except the occasional issue of the Animated Series book), was wondering if this price hike extends to the Superman line of books and "Wonder Woman" as well (presumably upped to $2.75)?

To think that the things were already expensive enough as it is, let alone approaching the price of *actual* lower-price magazines....

I got the complete list of DC comics Here that are getting their prices inflated. I am disgusted to see how this is mostly effecting the Bat-titles. I don't read them anymore, but I am just appauled at how DC can raise prices on more than haf the titles. I can almost gaurentee you that Batman will likely hit $2.50 when the Loeb/Lee run begins, just to bring in some extra cash. I plan to check out that run...if they raise the price....grrr...The only titles I'll be getting is Gotham Girls and Justice League Adventures, so this shouldn't effect me too much. But it's just ridiculous. As you can see from my news post, one Superman title is effected (Supergirl) and a host of DCU, Animated, and Vertigo books are as well.

and like Ms. Kitty, I'm Canadian and comic books are already expensive. A $2.50 comic costs almost $5 dollars here in Canada. This price jump has me outraged and peeved...

Yet more reasons not to give those books a try. Really takes away your incentive to experiment and try new books when they jack the prices up like that.

It does, totally. And these $2.75 books will cost at least $4.50 - $4.65 in Canada, and having that high of a price tag is not gonna make me wanna pick up these titles. I wouldn't mind Detective going back to 32 pages if it meant the rice goes back down to $2.25. As for Azrael, looks like they're jacking up the price so they can actually try and make some money off the last 10 issues.

We have all been violated! Personally I think this is wrong and I know that I will not be picking up any of these books on a regular basis. Once again it appears that comic prices are rising as most of Images titles are at $2.95 and DC is now raising their prices. We all know from past experiences that once a group gets a price raise it's only a matter of time before the other company does a similair move. This all leads to a seemingly never-ending cycle that costs the fan!

As of right now I only read 6 DC titles (the four Superman titles, Green Arrow and Nightwing) and about 5 or 6 Marvel titles (Peter Parker, Amazing, Ultimate Spider-Man, Ultimate X-Men and the Ultimates with the occasional Ultimate Marvel Team-Up and Daredevil). I really hope Marvel doesn't follow suit and raise their prices to compete. Daredevil is already expensive enough and a price rise on their Ultimate books would go against the entire purpose of the Ultimate line - to bring in new readers while redefining many Marvel icons.

Anyone remember when we could pick up the amazing Untold Tales of Spider-Man for a mere $0.99? Those were the days - hopefully Marvel and DC realize that their customers have budgets also and can't afford their continuing rise in price.

This really does suck. I'm gonna have to drop some titles to fit my budget. DC I hate you!!!

 I hate this! One of the big reasons why kids are led to get the animated comics are because they are CHEAPER! I think a lot of kids will be forced to lose August's Dexter or September's PPG, etc. etc. I feel that the future DC Comics fans will never be OR maybe I am just taking this too hard. LOL. ;) I read Batman: Gotham Adventures and Justice League Adventures out of the list of DC's raised prices. Both titles haven't got favorable reviews from people I have heard. A lot of B:TAS and JL fans pick these up just because they are $1.99 and cheaper than the JLA or Batman: Gotham Knights. I fear the end of Batman: Gotham Adventures. Oh no! Well, at least Green Lantern and the Ultimate Marvel line isn't raised! :D :D :D :D :D

Fortunately for me, I don't read any of the titles listed. Although I am currently a Bat-book buyer, I'm only in it for MURDERER/FUGITIVE and after that, I just won't be able to afford so many titles, and (sorry Bat-fans) I don't really want to. There are simply too many Bat-books and Super-books, and I'm overwhelmed. I have many other more important titles to buy.

For you guys, however, I'm sorry. Seems like it hit the titles everyone on this board seems to read.

Joe Quesada has confirmed for www.newsarama.com that Marvel titles will nit be seeing any increase of price for the foreseeable future. It seems to me like there's a pattern to this. All of the titles that are $2.25 (outside the animated books) are 'main character' books (ie: Batman, Flash, Nightwing, Wonder Woman, Robin), with the exception of JLA which features...well...all of the DC big guns. I'm also confused as to why all 4 Superman titles (some need to be cut) remain at the same price, while the 4 Batman titles range from $2.25 - $2.75....*sigh*...thanks DC...

Old man :p

Anyway, as a result of this....

GK goes. I was gonna stick on for Beatty's run, but I cannot justify it.

'Tec goes. Wanted to see the wonders Brubaker will work, but I guess that's out.

YJ stays....I cannot bring myself to drop that book despite the completely uncalled for price.

I wonder if Peter David is going to contest the quarter increase on Supergirl and Young Justice. :)

I have to agree with slipknot. This is supposed to be a cheap hobby! Some of us are fortunate to have somewhat of a disposable income that allows us to go beyond just buying comics (ie: sculptures, busts, maquettes, snowglobes etc...) I also have to question what the point of having free comic day at the beginning of this month? The comic population is not as great in number as it was in the 80's and the prices sure would limit if not scare away anyone away from entering the hobby of collecting comics today. Also Jim Harvey also has a point, as a fellow Canadian, boy it does not take long for a few titles, never mind specials, limited editions etc... to add up...quickly! Now some people may say we are just belly aching but it is getting quite costly and one has to wonder (without becoming overly pessimistic) how raising prices could possibly have a positive impact on the comic buying public. I realize its not all doom and gloom and nobody is forcing us to purchase this stuff but who can resist picking up their favourite titles week after week and enjoying what they have to offer!

I can't drop any of the Bat-related-titles, I just cannot, Birds and Catty included & I'm stuck with Az for a complete 100. I love GL, GA, JLA, YJ, Titans, Spectre - don't want to drop any of those - Just have to deal with this B******t.

I might have to drop Harley Quinn if any, I don't want to 'cause I have the entire run, but I really don't like the book all that much anyway, especially of late...Dodson's artwork being the exception.

Animated titles...gone! Although I will pick up Gotham Girls - at least through the 5 part mini.

Those should make up for my increases in virtually all the other books I read / buy

My guess for the bat-books being targeted over the super-ones: to take advantage of Loeb coming onboard (and the ensuing rise in # of readers taking interest), and/or to cover the cost of the backup stories in "Detective Comics" (don't think the Super-titles have had any backup stories on a regular basis since the short-lived "Action Comics Weekly" in the late 80's). Though I cynically presume that they'll get around to raising prices on their other cultural icon's books before long...

Most of the titles taking a price hit are ones I don't read, but it certainly seems to deter the occasional sporadic purchase of the only Bat-book I read ("Gotham Adventures")....along with, say, resuming buying "Titans" (bought a few of the early issues) and/or trying out "The Power Company"...

(Sigh) Recall that as a kid, comics were sold for around 60 cents an issue (though I wasn't reading them then for the most part)... I'd wonder if even factoring in higher pay for today's artists/improved paper, they've been risen at a rate faster than the rate of inflation over those 20 or so years....not to mention that at $2.95, I could probably buy a magazine for around that price (or for an extra dollar or so more) vs. a 22-page pamphlet...wonder if this'll help spur sales of trade paperbacks...

Joe Wagner

I could see trade paper back sales rising - I know that I had missed quite a few earlier issues of Ultimate Spider-Man and found it far more affordable to just pick up the trades than actually buy the issues I was missing. The only problem is trades are usually produced based upon what had very good sales or is a major event (like OWAW). Without the sales to support it DC won't make a trade - but yet they continue to raise the price and deter more people from picking up the book.

Here's a question though - if increasing the price of a book deters people from buying it how many people would pick up say Azrael if DC had gone in the opposite direction and made it either a $1.99 or $0.99 book for three or four months? I know that I would have picked the book up and probably stayed on whenever it returned to its normal price of $2.50 but at $2.95 the book isn't even worth my time to consider picking it up.
