I am going into a nostolgia stage here. There is plenty to be happy about in today's comic book world, but there are somethings I actually miss.
Disney comics. Some of the best stories and art in comics ever appeared in Disney comics. Give me a Duck Tails series over Tomb Raider anyday.
Digest comics. Today, you only have Archie digests, but back in "the day" there were Dennis the Menace digests, and Marvel had a ton of them coming out monthly, and DC also had several. They were a great and affordable way to catch up on old comic books that would cost an arm and a leg in back issue shops. I know Marvel tried to bring them back, but they were black and white and shoddy.
Low prices. I mean, come on, who doesn't miss 60¢ compared to 2.99 comics?
Annuals. We've been talking about this in the annuals thread, but I wanted to mention it here. Annuals used to be stand alone stories that were special events. Now they tend to be part of a logner story that ties into the comic book or part of some cross over event. Annuals allowed me to test out several characters in the past without having to worry about the continuity of the title and I actually got into some characters based on the strength of the novels alone.
Magazines. I miss many of them, especially Marvel's magazines such as Epic Illustrated and Crazy. There were many more. I know they weren't hot sellers, but they were fun.
