It's probaly a wacky poll, but what are your opinion the year were ending the classic cartoons of Popeye, MGM and WB cartoons on CN? All goodies are over the end... not real?

As far I'm concerned, classic theatircal cartoons on Cartoon Network is now becoming a thing of the past, with cancelations of Late Night Black & White and the soon to gone, Acme Hour.CN is also reducing airings of Looney Tunes and the upcoming "June Bugs' marathon and showing the new Popeye show during late night viewing hours and not prime time were it should be.Who knows for sure, when we'll see new episodes of Toonheads or new Popeye episodes in the months to come, as it seems that CN is only worried about their new animation and Anime.
CN used to be a great channel for the theatrical classics, but sad to say it isn't any more and I think that with last year's June Bugs controversey and with more recent "Speedy" mess, that Cartoon Network's image has been tarnished very badly.Let's face it, Cartoon Network is not the best place for cartoons nor is Boomerang and as much as I love Boomerang, the theatrical cartoon short doesn't get that much air play either on that channel, where the focus is mainly on televison cartoons.

Cartoon Network? My guess is 2005. Only the common cartoons, such as overplayed Looney Tunes/Merrie Melodies, are likely to last that long. It's only a matter of time before CN puts all of its good cartoons on Boomerang.

I say 2004. Things are to the point where the core audience for CN (kids) aren't interested in classic cartoons. They've taken it for granted that these cartoons are around for so long that they're nothing special anymore.
The only way CN will really win an audience with adults for classic animation, I think would be to air uncut cartoons during overnight hours.
It's just like any other form of classic film. As time goes on, what's considered classic is more and more recent (one could point to the recent AMC format change as an example) while what used to be classic is simply considered old and creaky.

I don't think CN will totally stop showing classic cartoons anytime soon --- or at least not until Boomerang becomes picked up by a lot more cable systems (as Pilmedium noted).
I don't buy the "kids don't like classic cartoons" argument. Characters like Bugs and Tom and Jerry will always be around. You'd be surprised how well T&J does in the ratings. They are one of the most popular features on CN.

True, I'm sure there will always be a home on CN for these cartoons, but they will probably not be as common as they are today.

As a certain golden oldie tune has it, "until the 12th of Never, and that's a long, long time!"
Of course, at some point during the in-between time, we just might see the B&W Popeyes start appearing on DVD...

IMO, CN should phase out all classic cartoons...
So that ultra-high quality versions can be released to DVD and videotape.
I'd much rather have a box set of...lets say...the entire collection of B&W Porky Pig cartoons than have to put up with the edited, colorized, and sometimes time compressed versions on CN.

I hope CN NEVER does that.

This is a wacky poll, but I can see a bit of reality here. CN will probably end showing the classics in 2004 (which is my guess) knowing how the executives feel about classics. Hopefully, if the cementheads are smart enough, they will shift the classics to Boomerang, and if that is the case, you know I will be asking!
Then we'll end up with a satellite channel called the H-B Channel!!
