It's time once again for another edition best......Character

This week that honor goes to the now defunct Harveytoons cartoons series....
So who do you think is the BEST Harveytoon character ???

NOTE:
This is only for the theatrical cartoon one reelers, not the comic books...

He isn't among the choices... but I'd vote for Buzzy the Crow. I think the first few Buzzy cartoons are funny (if you are lucky enough to find them with their original voices intact).

Yeah!
Let's redo this poll adding Buzzy the Crow, who I would have voted for if there had been the chance.
"If I die... the secret dies with me!"
"That sounds logical."

Like Jon, I'd vote for Buzzy if he was on the list. Since he's not, my vote goes to Herman and Catnip.

I always liked Buzzy the Crow. Infact he's my favorite Harveytoon character.

Sounds like Cecil Tortoise and Bugs Bunny being ripped off. As with an earlier poll, I have never seen or watched any of those cartoons.

I do have only one cartoon (on video) that has "Buzzy The Crow's" original voice, in the 1959 "Herman And Katnip" cartoon...
"Katnip's Big Day".

My favorite Harvrytoon stars of course is, Herman And Katnip...and I own almost all of their cartoons on video, and I must say that these cartoons contain some of the most graphic violence I ever seen in a cartoon series. But I bet some of you might have thought I was going to pick "Tommy Tortoise And Moe Hare" as my favorite Harveytoons character. Actually they are my second favorites, and their cartoons just plain funny. And that's how I got my nickname "Moe Hare"

I have tons of Harveytoons cartoons (over 150 shorts) on video, so if anybody is interested just e-mail me.

Hey Nelson, would it be okay if I added Buzzy as a choice on your poll?

Yes Jon, go right ahead and I would apperciate it very much. I was in such a hurry, I simply forgot (my fault) to add Buzzy to the poll.So please add Buzzy.

I just added him! Also, Nelson, I have copies of a bunch of the Buzzy cartoons with the original voices. E-mail or send me a private message, maybe we can work out a trade.

I'd vote for Herman, as much as a solo act in the 1943-50 Noveltoons as in the Herman and Katnip teaming from the 1950s Harveytoons. Those cartoons as still the best overall Paramount did during the 50s, even if the violence in them was pretty rough at times, but they also suffered from the formula problem every other Famous cartoon had -- "A Bicep Built for Two" was really the only H&K that broke the formula completely -- while Herman was used in more varied situations during the 1940s.

I vote for Herman & Katnip!! My earliest memories of Harverytoons (aka Paramount) were during a local morning program here in the Chicago area called Garfield Goose & firends. When that show went off the air, the cartoons were mixed in with Warners cartoons on WGN. I found the Herman & Katnip cartoons to be quite funny (not to mention violent) and the storylines around their cartoons were not as repetitious as some of the other Paramount star characters. The animation was quite good, too. I would like to see these cartoons with their original Paramount titles. That would be a treat!!

I'll tell you guys something, when it comes to cartoon violence, "Herman And Katnip" can give "Tom And Jerry" a run for their money. These cartoons are just down right violent, some scenes in the H&K series are so graphic, I was surprised that they were never edited for tv.

And even then, the plot wasn't that far off from a Buzzy the Crow cartoon.
