I have a cartoon on a PD tape that's called the Pincushion Man and it was directed by Ub Iwerks. Does anyone know what company released it and wha year was it made.
Thank you!

I dunno, but it sounds suspiciously similar to a snippet that appeared in the MST3K that ran last week - Merlin's Shop of Mystical Wonders or some such. It looks kind of like a plant that wanders through a world of balloon celebrities?

Well, there is the villain who's a pincushion but there are no celebrities, just balloon people. I still what to know who released it and what year it was released.
Suonds a lot like "Baloonland" released in 1935: IMDB (http://us.imdb.com/Title?0146460)
Billy Bletcher plays Pincushion Man according to the IMDB.
Also, acording to the Big Cartoon Database (http://www.bcdb.com/bcdb/detailed.cgi?film=3613), it was a Comicolor short made by Celebrity Productions

Yes indeed-y fellers "The Pincushion Man" is the great "Balloonland" by Ub. Why the difference in title you say?? Blame home-movie titling...

Surprisingly, an edited, title-less Castle Films print of Balloon Land was shown on HBO's broadcast of the original Pee-Wee Herman live special from 1981.

The Blackhawk Films DVD's of the Ub Iwerks cartoons sport original title versions of almost all of the ComicColor shorts and other Iwerks cartoons (The only exception is Little Black Sambo being a Castle Films print...in poor condition.)
Grapevine Video uses the same prints supposedly for their Comicolor tapes (which have an excellent print of Balloonland)
As for Merlin's Shop of Mystical Wonders including this cartoon...it's probably the best part of the movie. :D

It's so annoying. Why can't they use the released titles, even if the cards are redesigned.

They showed two clips, one of Pincushion Man saying, "I'm PINCUSHION MAN!" and singing a little song, and another of balloon citizens, including Laurel and Hardy and Charlie Chaplin balloons. I'd have rather watched more of that than what was happening in the movie. Balloonland was interrupted by a Golden Retriever burning to death. Wretched movie.

That should be Haurel and Lardy! Haurel and Lardy were one-shot characters that appeared in Bosko's Picture Show Love 'em!
