Can someone please tell me what happened to the Long awaited & much hyped DK2?

The first 2 books came out (and were quite awful in my humble opinion), then nothing. No third book, no expainations from Miller or DC? What gives?

My understanding is that DC and Miller had an agreement to not release the series until all three books were done. DC violated the agreement by releasing the books before all three were finished and thus released Miller from his contract to do all three. This means that Miller doesn't have an obligation to finish the series and since he is busy with other projects (like the Batman: Year One script) he might decide to skip the third chapter - leaving only the fans of the series as the losers.

I heard differently actually. I asked my comic book shop the same question yesterday, and to his understanding the ART is not ready as of yet. I don't know whether this is just a stall tactic or whether it's true, but this is what I heard.

I think Miller got caught with his pants down, and thout he could just "wing-it".

I dont think the story is (so far) on par with Miller's early Batman work, and the art is just bad by any standards. It loooks rushed, with little attention given to story-boarding, backgrounds, color, mood, you-name-it, it is sub-par! Even more so when you consider that Miller & DC had fifteen or so years to plan this thing out.

Miller should keep to writing, and the occational cover. I would much rather have seen David Mazzucelli, Bill Sienkiewicz, Matt Wagner, Brian Bolland, is Neil Adams still alive?, or a few other great artist collaberate with Miller on this project.

You can find the cover here. (http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/ASIN/1563898713/qid=1021852099/sr=8-1/ref=sr_8_1/103-4887849-1206219) Personally I'm thinking that Vol. 3 has one of the fugliest covers I've ever seen.

From what I've seen online, the reason DK2 #3's been so delayed was because there was apparently a horrible online backlash at issue #2. Miller, trying to rectify what he perceived as a problem, all but scrapped the original #3 and rewrote it. Don't know how much truth there is to that, though, especially since I can't remember where I heard it from. :P

I rather this be the truth than the whole Origin Competition/Releasing before Miller wanted deal, because at least part 3 comes out, if this is true.

A majority of people seem to be dissatisfied with the art work. But what about the story? Do you guys not like the story? I happen to like this story. I'm still looking forward to reading the third issue.

Frank Miller doesn't need color, his stuff is best B&W.
