Variety reports that Vin Diesel will earn $20 million for the "xXx" sequel. He made about $2 million for the first "Fast and the Furious," which rose to $10 million on "xXx" and $12.5 million on "The Chronicles of Riddick." The deal will bring Diesel a "xXx2" salary of $20 million against 10% gross, says the trade.

All I have to say is good for Vin Diesel, but have I missed something? Don't get me wrong, I've loved Vin's work ever since I saw Pitch Black, but he's now making $20 million a film...how did that happen? Sure, Fast and the Furious made a bunch of money and I'm sure xXx will do well in theatres, but that's quite a quick rise to a $20 million salary.

Oh well, good for him and looks like Hollywood is finally getting a new action star to replace the likes of Arnold, Stallone, and Bruce Willis.

Hate to say it, but he's a manufactured tool of hollywood.

He was a nobody who had modest to great hits in a short period of time. Hollywood decides they can manufacture him into their own marketing tool, so they hype him up as the next action hero and sign him up for movies... and then based on that hype, they sign him up for sequels to his movies that aren't even finished in production. Why? Because they can. And because the public is willing to buy into the hype to see him.

I can't remember where... maybe it was the LA times, but someone just wrote an article on the manufactured action stars. And he was Number 1. Hollywood can do anything.

Of course, it he can make the money... good for him.
