Hey guys, Gpoliceman here.

I'm pretty much betting that after "Unmasked" is aired the Batman Beyond storyline will be over and done with and never touched again. It was a nice run but I think we only have JL to concentrate on and possibly the live action BB movie if it ever gets made. But you must realize that if the BB movie gets made it will really only be a retelling and more fleshed out version of the BB series opener (Rebirth) which all us BB fans already know about.

I'm also expecting Batman Year One to get made.

But in other words, I think any new BB stuff ain't going to happen. It's over. The show is done. Maybe we'll get one more animated BB movie talking about Nightwing and whatever happened to him but I'm not placing my money on it.

So because the BB series and storyline has basically gone bye-bye, I'd like to ask everyone here a question and kinda make a poll out of this.

Paul Dini once said that Batman Beyond was a "possible future for Batman". If this is so, I'd like to know whether or not hardcore bat fans here WANT THIS STORYLINE OF BATMAN to BE the actual future of him.

Since it is a "possible" future, how many people would actually like it be "the" future of Batman? Now that we've seen the show for so many seasons and seen what it is and basically where it is going how many people here would accept and be happy with this being the absolute future of Batman?

Yes or No?

My Answer: From the very beginning I understood why Bruce Wayne gave up being Batman. I did understand what they were trying to say with him going over the edge and thus giving up the role of Batman..........however.................I've always seen Bruce Wayne/Batman as being the type of character to NEVER stop kicking and screaming and whinning about his parent's death. I don't think picking up a gun would bother Batman as much as it did on the show. I think he would be afraid of himself more and his actions, and I think eventually he would have gone out in a blaze of glory, but I don't think he would give up Batman. He is Batman after all. There is no Bruce Wayne. There is only Batman.

So in other words I DO NOT accept Batman Beyond as being the future of Batman. I would rather accept The Dark Knight Returns, or the TNAB episode "Over the Edge" as being the absolute end of Batman.

I would rather see Batman get knocked off a building and die at the hands of Bane while he was fighting for what he believed in than see him lay down and die by becoming a bitter old man.

I don't think Batman Beyond is a plausible ending for Batman/Bruce Wayne. I'm not even sure if I believe that Bruce Wayne would let anybody else go by the name Batman. That's like stealing all that he is from him.

I think TDKR is still the best "end of batman" storyline. He got old, he kept fighting. He got older, he kept on fighting. He had his last battle with Two-Face and the Joker. The cops were after him. Gordon couldn't help him anymore as Commisioner. Batman kept on fighting. Alfred died. Batman kept on fighting. Batman beat the tard out of Superman, and faked his death to the world. And now while living underground with everyone thinking he's dead, he's still planning his war on crime.

Batman never got too old.

Batman never gave up.

Batman fooled the entire world.

Batman stayed Batman and didn't pass on the mantel to nobody!

Now that's how Batman should go out!

Do you agree?

As Superman said, Bruce is too stubborn to die. I think he would pass on the mantle to make sure that justice is still being fought for. I don't think he should just be kille din some fight. He should outlast us all. And he will.

The thing is that Bruce was physically incapable of being BAT's anymore.

To answer your original question, yes, i think that BB should be the future for Batman. See, i can't picture Bruce dying, period. Old and bitter, or fighting crime, he's not one to walk toward the light. And in BB, he still is fighting crime, but in a way that he is physically able to. And i believe that at the cost of his own identity crisis, he would want the city to be protected after he's gone. Why, even in TDKR, it's Bruce at the end, training kids to be heros. Besides little technicalities, what's the difference between that and BB? So, imo, BB is the future.

Nope, I wouldn't want BB to be the future of the Batman universe. If I had to choose, I'd go with Miller's TDKR.

Even in KINGDOM COME he remains fighting crime. Sure, his body is shattered and frail becuase of the abuse he oput it through, but he uses robots now to patrol and keep Gotham safe. He shouldn't die. He can't die. To have Batman go out fighting some super-villian is a weak way to go. He should live on, to show that he has had a successful mission in life.

I don't see Terry as the future of Batman either, but only because of events like what happened with Tim and thoughts of Bruce dying. After reading all these replies I think my opinion was best expressed by DG. Bruce shouldn't die. And he would want justice to still be served.

And because of his biterness toward his parents' deaths, he'd kick and scream and do anything in his power to keep Batman going.

So I don't see Terry as the definite future of Batman, especially only with three seasons of a show that was treated like crap by it's network.

I really loved the part Terry played though. BB hit SOME nails right on the head at least. A next generation strength who Bruce saved from a bad life, and went on to being a great person and a good Batman. As well as helping Bruce heal the old wounds he had that were part of what made him stop being Batman (but only physically of course).

I don't think Terry was given HIS justice though, so until that happens I don't think BB should be a definite future. But I also don't think Terry get's enough justice that he deserves.

You know - I'd like to see Bruce die happy. I think he really deserves it. Anyways he lives out his remaining years, he definatly should die happy. With all the misery in his life - if anyone deserves a happy death it's good ol' Bruce! And I think he will if he ever does.

Any Batman future is alright with me, as long as Inque is a part of it. :D
