On a video I own called "Attack of the 30's Characters,"
two of the cartoons are edited, "Porky's Railroad" (WB) and "Funny Face" (Flip the Frog).
In "Funny Face" the gay mask is edited out but the black mask isn't.
In "Porky's Railroad," which is the original black and white version, not the redrawn, the scene that's missing is the scene where the Silver Fish turns a tunnel inside out and blows away a pile of logs to reveal a black slave.
Also, I noticed on other PD tapes that other toons are also edited:
In an A.P.P. print of "The Unruly Hare" the entire scene where Bugs shows Elmer the pictures of women in a magazine is removed.
Also, note that this cartoon is NOT in the public domain and the PD video I got it on was a Shokus.
Also, if you've ever seen any PD Betty Boop tapes ("Betty Boop and Friends" etc.) with the redrawn "Is My Palm Read?" you'll see that the scenes when the cat turns the lights out and Bimbo and Koko see right through Betty's dress, Betty's past is shown by Bimbo showing Betty as an infant, Betty's dress getting lost on an island, and lastly the Jewish ghost from the island.
And if you own a Terrytoons video called "The Best of Terrytoons," you'll see that "The Talking Magpies" is edited,
the scene where Farmer Alfalfa looks inside a barrel to see if the Heckle and Jeckle-prototypes are in there. The Magpies shoot the gun pointing at the barrel. When the smoke clears, we see Farmer Alfalfa in blackface while one of the magpies says "Well, if it ain't the little black flower!" I can't believe such classics get this kind of treatment! Every cartoon should be unedited.
