You guys may remember me talking about how I didn't enjoy PP Spiderman. I had picked up the fusion story and was disappointed. It was defended by a few people.
I was wondering if I had just gotten to old for comics or something. After reading Amazing, I know the truth. PP just wasn't up to the standards. Amazing however, was...Amazing. Now this is a villian I can get interested in. Ezekiel is pretty cool also. And what about the hint of a new origin? sometimes those are done just for the sake of doing them and aren't very good. but I think this retelling of the origin is great so far.
Also, the dialogue. Every moment of reading it is a pleasure. Also, the way they've changed Aunt May from a tottering old woman to an independent, modern lady.
YES, I LIKE SPIDERMAN AGAIN!

I do plan to pick up a few issues. Which issues did you start at, on JMS's run? I keep hearing how he's responsible for MJ leaving and stuff, which I don't really care about. But the title is real good, eh? I may have to plunk down my $3.50 for it...

Well he started with Issue 30. Which has already become overpriced so I didn't get it. Issues 31-33 are good though.
From what I've read in the letter page Howard Mackie got rid of MJ. I like her character, but this story is not hurting because she's not there.

The reason why MJ is still gone is because upper management doesn't want her there. Anyway, as killercorc said, the story isn't affected by her absense. I think both core Spidey titles are really good. So far, I still prefer the first four PPSM's over JMS Spidey, but just by a bit. The thing is I don't like JMS's direction. Anyway, what I really enjoy about his writing is that he's made Spidey funny again. His wisecracks are actually good again! Yay. Spidey is good again!

Oh yeah I forgot. JMS's run started with issue 30 of Amazing. This week, I believe, a mini-trade is coming out collecting issues 30-32. Check it out, DG.

Good? Out of 25-30 comics I get a month, Amazing Spider Man is the first one I will read out of the box.

Actually my favourite comics are Ultimate Spidey and Spider-Girl.

I still have yet to pick up any of the Ultimate books, but plan on getting the Ultimate Team Up comic with the Fantastic Four, featuring art by Jim Mahfood. I am looking forward to that one. I might have to pick up the trade paperbacks on the others I've missed.

Ultimate Spidey is really well done. The only thing ppl might not like is the slow pacing. About Ultimate X-Men, a lot of ppl on some comic boards I go to bashed it to the ground, but I though it was not too bad. Now for Team-Up, the first 3 issues were horrible. The the two-part Mike Allred Iron Man story rocked. let's hope it doesn't let up.....

Plus, JMS's plans don't involve her (I.E. doesn't want to deal with her) so he put her aside for the time being.
Frankly, I'd rather MJ take a break. She's been screwed ten times over in the last few years. Bring her back when you get a writer who can handle a relationship with chemistry and pizazz.

The funny thing is, Paul Jenkins wants her back. Anyway, one way or another, I'm sure they'll bring her back, just in time for the movie.

I heard about that. Did anyone see the cover to October's AMAZING SPIDER-MAN? They're already movie-fiying him by super-imposing his webbing over the suit. The pick is up at www.comicbookresources.com and www.marvel.com. At least they're starting early compared to X-MEN. :)

I don't mind the movie style costume appearing in the comics, but I didn't really like this one. Say, you know that J. Scott Campbell draws the ASM covers. Did he do this one too? It doesn't see, like it to me.....

The new cover artist is Kaare Andrews. Campbell was contracted to only do issues #30 - 35. The guy who did this will be the regular cover artist for the foreseeable future. PP:S will have a new one, as well. While I Like the movie costume, It doesn't really work here.

Allred did a story in the team up comic? I better start staying awake in class! I am sorry to have missed that one!

I've been meaning to pick up X-FRCE to check out the art sometime.. Hopefully I can buy some ULTIMATE back issues sometime soon. After I get some JMS issues.

I hope you find those Ultimates, cuz they're pretty rare over here. Except fot the team-ups though. I found some at 2 stores and they were WAY over-priced. I'm only missing #5 of Ultimate Spidey now. I saw it at a local comic convention for 15 bucks, but decided it just wasnt worth it.

There are no good comic book stores around my area, and I get my monthly orders from westfield comics. So, getting back issues must be an Internet thing for me.
Isn't there an Ultimate Marvel magazine? They might reprint the Iron Man story in there.

Yeah. Currently it reprints one issue from Ultimate Spidey, Ultimate X-Men and U;ltimate Marvel Team-Up. Not sure which isssues of the magazine the Iron man story would be in. If you want, I can check up on it. Just tell me.

Your local newsstand should have a copy of ULTIMATE MARVEL MAGAZINE on hand. Just fo check it out. I don't think the reprints are up that far yet, though, in the mag.

Double FRAG, I just checked the solicitations for Westfield this month. Issue 9 has Marvel Team Up #5 reprinted. Looks like I missed part one of the two part story...again. Double frag.

Check the newsstand or the comic shop. It's very likely they could be there. My comic shop had both the back issues there - and I shoulda picked them up...

Ok, I don't really hate you guys. I was just kidding.
But seriously, because of you people I now have yet another comic to collect! I picked up the Amazing Spiderman #30-32 reprint, as well as issue #33. I had been sort of interested in checking out Straczynski's run on the title, but I've never, never cared for Spiderman. But, because of the comments I've read here, I decided to pop for it - and I loved it. Now I've got to add another comic to my list! Argh!

I still need to get that mini-trapepaperback before I forget. I had an issue of #3 in my hand a few weeks back but put it down for some reason. Hopefully I can head in this week to get a copy.

I feel the same way about the comic dealer that got me to read them. There's another $3.00 every month. Maybe we could start moonlighting.
Glad you're enjoying Spidey!

Comics are both a blessing and curse. Good reads, but sometimes pricey. I can't pick up a new title until I drop one, which is why I'm sorta glad BATMAN BEYOND is cancelled. I can now get the SPIDER-MAN books. It'll cost a extra $3 an month, but I'm sure the Spidey books are better than BB.

I don't have any comic book store to go to (BTW, I noticed Friendly Frank's listed in the latest edtion of the Overstreet Price Guide as being in Kansas City, but they are not in the phone book. Did he go out of business?) and the local grocery stores no longer carry comic books at all, but there is a chance I might find one at a book store magazine rack, so I might have to look out.

Anyone thinking that Peter Parker, Spider-Man is a worse title than Amazing, you're crazy. Chech out ish #33 and see what I mean.

I've only read #31-32, the Fusion storyline, but I was less than impressed. I didn't like the dialogue, or plot, and the ending was very cliche.
