Another Rare Video Find!

This past Saturday when I arrived at my job a little early, I strolled through the video section. On one wall, they had nothing but used videos, and one of them was "BUGS VS. DAFFY: BATTLE OF THE MUSIC VIDEO STARS!

It was only $2.50, and I couldn't pass up a bargain like that! The box was a bit warn, but the video itself was in excellent shape!

I have only seen this special twice; first when it originally aired, and again in junior high school!

This is the only place to see a pristine print of "SCRAP HAPPY DAFFY" (well, a least a clip of it)! Oddly enough, the copy of "ANY BONDS TODAY?" they used in the special was faded and had scratches on it! They used a new scene of Daffy talking to us to cover up the Bugs/Jolson scene!

What a find!

Sounds like a disgrace to classic animation. I would rather see something banned than redone (and I'm all against banning)

When I was talking about a new scene, I meant new animation of Daffy that had to do with the show's plot, with him being a veejay trying to beat Bugs in the ratings.. The Bugs/Jolson scene is still in the show, but you don't see it; it can be clearly heard on the TV set that Daffy was watching while talking to us. They cut right back to the final scene once Daffy was done talking.

But they didn't put new animation of Daffy into the actual wartime cartoon!

It wasn't redone. The story is Bugs and Daffy are rival music video jockeys, and they simply cut away to Daffy watching Bugs' network while the song continued. That's all. There wasn't anything new done to the cartoon.

What a find!

I actually found a copy of this that I had taped off of CBS awhile back. I just watched it last week. Just a little slow to post about it though. It was interesting to see these two clips, plus clips from "Shake Your Powder Puff" and "Bosko's Picture Show!"
