According to COMING ATTRACTIONS, David Ducovony is being more than considered for Superman in the new Superman movie. And if Planet of the Apes is a success (pulling in $150-$200 million) then Tim Burton will get the green light to do what he wants with this project. Of course, Coming Attractions is the first to tell you that this is not truth, but rumor, and they are currently researching the "scoop" to see if it's reliable. I some how doubt it. I just shudder in horror of seeing Ducovony in that role. I didn't think it could get worse after they considered Nicolas Cage.

If Richard Donner got his way, and was able to film his World's Finest movie, he would pick Daniel Day Lewis to play Superman.

If there are evident signs of the oncoming apocolips, this has to be one of them. The reserved, weinie acting style of David Duchovony is not what we need for Superman.
Cheers.

I said it before and I'll say it again: Brendan Fraser!!! Perfect pick in my eyes, and the guys at Wizard listed him as a possible for the roles of Supes, too. And I'm praying Burton would do it. He hasn't done a movie that I haven't liked...

And he has proven he can do a great job in action movies with the Mummy. I think he has all the qualities I would look for in an actor to play Superman. The others mentioned thus far...well, none of them are any good. Brendan has a down to earth quality and an innocence about him that you would expect from Clark Kent, and yet he can beef it up and do great action that you'd expect from Superman, and he does work out and keeps a good physique, which you'd also expect from Superman. Better than Nicholas Cage's old, cigarette worn body.
