I really liked this comic book. The artwork was like the B:TAS show and it had a cool 1950's feel to it. I loved the story.

The comic was cool. I haven't been reading comics long and I haven't read a lot of Batman but this is one of my favorites.

This book works for me because it looks at Batman and his roots. It's been a long time since we've seen Batman explore his roots.

I felt this story have a very 50's feel to it. The art only backed that up. Anyone else feel this?

Now this was a great comic! I am glad a talkback was created for it and I'm sorry it took me a few days to get to it! Who else has comments on this book?

More BATMAN: EGO reviews???

i was at the local Android's Dungeon when I found an saw this one-shot. Had a sweet cover. Flipped thru it, looked great. The $6 cover price was scary. Is it worth the read? Any reviews for this book?

i'm thinking of going back to pick it up, along w/ the Batman/Daredevil team-ups.

Like I said - BUY THIS. I seriously cannot recommend it enough, it's one of the best Batman stories I've ever read. The $6 price tag is a steal for the quality you're getting.

Darwyn Cooke did this one-shot and it's wonderfully done, both art- and story-wise. The story delves into Bruce/Batman's disturbed psyche and sorta announces the whole Fugitive storyline (the split personalities thing). It's a great little one-shot with which only a member of the TNBSA/BB crew could provide us.

I enjoyed the issue as well for many of the same reasons the rest you, so I will refrain from rambling about what made the issue to great to me. It would be a waste of time for all parties involved.

Although, I can't help but ask this question...

Yeah he did storyboards too. You can see some of them in the amazing Batman: Animated book.

I re-read this comic last night and I have to agree that it really is one of those great comics that all Batman fans should read. I can't believe it was done way back in 2000. I remember this comic took me forever tof ind and then of course they re-release it in a new collection. I like the conflict Cooke creates between the two "Batmen" that inhabit Bruce Wayne's body. We have the innocent boy Bruce Wayne and the vengeance-seeking Batman. It's such a great conflict and, personally, I think this would have made an amazing episode or movie if they ever decide to adapt it. The artwork really just jumps out at you and it really is amazing.

I'm actually not as taken with Batman: Ego as I was hoping to be. It's certainly beautiful, but I just didn't think that the payoff worked as well as it should have. I think the latest HC edition has a new forward by Cooke where he admits he didn't pull it off as well as he'd have liked, so I'm glad that I wasn't alone in thinking that.

There are quite a few nice little extras in that Batman: Ego HC, though, including a few Batman backup stories and some Batman-related stuff from Darwyn Cooke's issue of Solo.
