You mean Inu-Yasha. It's based on the popular comic by Rumiko Takahashi (Ranma 1/2, Urusei Yatsura) is about a young girl (Kagome) who discovers thfalls in her well and finds that her shed is a portal back to feudal Japan, where a demon tries to steal a gem (the Shikon Jewel) she holds. While escaping she frees a boy with dog ears from a tree who kills the demon. Problem is that he's a feirce half-demon who want the Shikon to become a full demon. Even worse, he thinks that Kagome is the heroine that trapped him. Luckily, Inu Yasha (the half demon) is vulnerable to the Shikon and Kagome can defend herself with it, so Inu-Yasha hangs around till she's defenseless. But when another demon tries to steal it, the jewel gets shattered into tiny shards with spread themselves across the land. Kagome can sense the jewels and now has the power to make Inu Yasha fall to the ground when she says sit, so the two form an uneasy alliance to get the crystal back together. But is Inu-Yasha as evil as he seems? And why does he act like he loves the woman who tried to kill him?
Inu-Yasha is a mix of horror, adventure and comedy, although the horror aspect is mostly gone at about the 20th episode when the series main villain shows up. A lot of episodes are already out and if it's like all of the Takahashi series, then it should last about 200 some episodes (her series are VERY popular)
