View Full Version : Direct to Video Justice League: Who wants one?

After (re)watching SubZero, Mask of the Phantasm and the Uncut Return of the Joker, I've decided that the Direct to Video format is perfect for JL. The episodic nature of JL is a little too limiting for such huge, universe-spanning stories. F'r instance, World's Finest doesn't hang together as well for me because of the obvious breaks for commercials and prerequisite end-of-the-episode cliffhangers.
There'd be so much more time for character development, too. But how big a story can be told? Something Crisis-level, or something more character-based, like Legends?
What's everyone think? Guest stars?

Id love to see a direct to video Justice League Movie. On what subject I dont know but I would want it to be Huge something truley epic. Something Crisis-level would be nice.

I too would love to see a DTV JL movie. I think that the best story for an arc like this would have to either be World War III, Rock of Ages, Our Worlds at War or Tower of Babel. Either one of this would be epic enough to support a 79 min movie and would give the creators a little more freedom to develop each character.

a dtv JL movie would be great. my brain is overloading thinking of possible stories. there are so many that i would like to see. the only way to see this become a reality is if sales on the current dvd releases warrant it. if we don't buy them, for whatever reason, they will claim that there isn't a market for future releases.

If there were to be a JL DTV, I'd much prefer it to be character driven. There's so much we don't know about Hawkgirl and Wondie, and I'd much rather see that than another epic...they happen in every episode! However, I also know that that won't come to pass because kiddies expect to see lots of action. If they see Diana and Clark talking about their feelings, they'll all run away from the tv shrieking "EEEEWWWWWWW". It's like asking WWF fans to watch the Rock recite a poem about lakes

You know what's really got me upset about these DTV's they really don't make enough. I mean, releasing the Justice League movie, which was a measly hour, wasn't good enough. They need a movie, like an 80 minute adventure.
How does three episodes form an hour anyway?

Each episode is only about 20 mins long - every time you sit down to watch almost any half hour tv show you are going to be subjected to about 10 mins worth of commercially goodness.

Actually I think it's 22 minutes. But, the Superman movie was three episodes, yet the movie was longer, same goes for World's Finest.

I think JL is down to 19 minutes per half hour, but I'll have to double check that.

I believe they could use a dtv to explain the entire Kyle Rayner- Green Lantern issue. If anyone's ever read the Green Lantern:TAS episode guide, it could take a few pointers from them. Also, I wouldn't mind an elseworlds movie like The Nail.

One of the best Elseworld's tales ever. That would make a excellent animated movie.

I'd love a DTV JL movie, and I like the "Elseworlds" ideas like "Kingdom Come" or "The Nail", both great stories that could make for excellent movies. I also think that "Tower or Babel" would be a great movie, too that would open up some interesting ideas for Season 3- I'm guessing that Season 2 is top priority right now, before any type of movie would be considered. I won't discuss those ideas here, just in case any of you haven't read "Tower of Babel", but if you havent... DO SO NOW !! It's great stuff. I also was a huge fan of "The Nail", and agree that it was one of the best "Elseworlds" tales yet, if not the best.
