I love the Black in Black segments and the movie reviews. Did you see the one on Final Fantasy? That guy always cracks me up with his reviews!

The election coverage back in November and December was also very funny. I will never forget their Superfriends clip, where John Stewart announced Gore was taking his case to the Hall of Justice now. They had a clip of Batman with something that looked like a voting card going, "It looks like another vote for Gore!" I wanted to get that episode taped, but couldn't

I'm a die hard TDS fan. The best segment I think they've possibly ever done was there about the Freeze-Dried pets back in May. Totally hilarious. Corbert is an awesome anchorman. The newbie son the show are pretty cool so far, although Degeneres is missed.

The dodgeball report was pretty funny, esp. Colbert hitting that little girl right in the middle of her face. I couldn't believe he would do that, but it was hilarious... and the movie reviews are always great. TDS is probably the closest i get to watching actual news because it makes it funny...

cobert is the best he is not afraid to show the truth on bad things.

--to be the voice of dissention (that's Mxy's job--;) )---but I don't care for The Daily Show. Jon Stewart comes off more smarmy than funny much of the time, and in that, appears to be a cut-rate Dennis Miller. Maybe he's a funny man but he seems saddled with bad writers (or does he write his own material?). Much of what comes out of his mouth is more mean-spirited than funny, and this is going to be the third show on ComCent that I've likened to watching bad Saturday Night Live bits (the other two were That's My Bush! and Primetime Glick).
Though I do recall a segment that made me howl about German toys that made flatulent noises and the painstaking research it takes to record the perfect poots for them.
Stephen Colbert was a lot funnier in Strangers With Candy, which gave him a chance to do a character role. He's talented enough to break away from pseudo-broadcast news and do another series, IMO.

he is not the main reason i watch the show but i do think he is sorta funny i watch for the other stories that are not head line i watch for the interviews and investigations.

Anybody here watch the Craig Kilborn show? I hardly get to see it because the CBS affiliate here shows an hour of sit coms after letterman so Craig comes on REALLY late, too late for me to stay up, but his style reminds me of the Daily Show somewhat on his talk show. I know he used to be host of the Daily Show, didn't he?
Trent Lane

yeah, kilborn was on TDS first, then he left for CBS and took the five question bit with him. it was usually pretty funny...

Yeah that was the first thing that popped in my head when I saw Craig for so long, then Jon: Where'd the five questions go?? Later on I learned, it's just not his bag, that's all! :)
Hehehe. Anyway, The Daily Show is awesome. There's nothing else like it really. Although I wouldn't consider it similar to Denis Miller, though, because Dennis Miller is much more strait foward and just plain real. The only slight similarity I see is the spoofy news thing. They are all pointed in that direction in that respect.
And Jon is a hilarious stand up comic, so I was glad he got the job as front man. Stephen Colbert is my favorite next to Steve Carrell. Colbert was my favorite since Jon started for the reason of he was one of the only anchors left from Craigs old show, but the new ones were just so funny I warmed up to them completely.

The Steves are great, I also like Lewis Black's stuff a lot, although I think that he is funnier doing stand-up. All of them are pretty darn good, although some of the newer guys will take some getting used to. Too bad Vance left, that Women's Health thing he did was hilarious. Nancy was pretty darn good too.

It took me a while to get him, but now I think he's pretty funny. Still, I've been watching TDS since the very beginning and I think Jon's funnier. He says stuff off the cuff that just cracks me up.
Lewis Black is the funniest correspondant IMO. He gets so worked up! It cracks me up.

I agree. Jon is definatly funnier. Kilborn had that snotty "I'm better than you" thing going on, I thought. Stewart is very awesomer, and talented. And Lewis Black...well, those are one of the segments I look forward to every wek.

so who would you like to see take Jon's place if he ever left the show? I have nobody on the show currently that I'd like to see take his place, personally. When they filled in for him during those periods he was gone, the show was certainly lacking.

I think Steve Carrell did a great job hosting while Jon was gone. And the one day where he kept making fun of Jon's anchor ability was great. Carrell is definately my favorite corresspondent.
I also am anticipating Walls' return from maternity leave. I found her bits to be extremely funny.

Steve Correll and the others did good jobs, for fill in episodes, but I just couldn't imagine watching the series every day with any one of them at the helm. That's nothing against them at all, mind you, as I like them all, but I just couldn't see the show with them at the helm. But I know people who don't like the show since Kilborn left (well, one lady I work with anyway) and she hates Jon Stewart, so I guess there are those who never could imagine the show without Kilborn.

Nancy Walls brief return to TDS for Dollars and Sense was hilarious! They built it all up purposely, and she barely said anything, and they pulled it off great.

You should try it. There are some good ones out there.

Yeah, there are a few that I think are good. I like Frasier, Thrid Rock from the Sun (ya, I know that show is history now), that 70's Show, and probably a couple others. The thing is I will watch them for a little while, get bored during re runs, then forget about them for a while. That 70's Show is the only sitcom I keep up on. I catch Frasier sporadically.

There's not really a show I watch on a continuous basis. I usually just catch them whenever I['m there. There's nothing really that good to watch on TV anyways, and I usually out or watching a movie. I catch the occasional sitcom.

I have been watching Boston Public faithfully. I think it is a great series. Jerri Ryan, from Voyager, will be a teacher on there this coming fall season.

I did catch the season finale of BP sorta by accident and it wasn't bad. BTW - tonite is the premiere of the new Daily Show theme, for it's 5th anniversary.

The season finale of Boston Public may have been better if you had seen more episodes from the season!
I am really looking forward to tonight's ep of the DS. Senator Bob Dole will be on there. He always cracks me up. "What does Bob Dole think? Bob Dole think's he's an idiot!"

Yeah, this is a can't miss episode. 5 years old...that's pretty cool.
BTW, do you remember Joe Bob Briggs on the Daily Show? Didn't he do some thing called Godstuff with clips of televangelists? I always thought it was pretty funny.
