...well..Ever since the board started I was thinking about a post like this. A post with no meaning...it just gets revived now and then when there's nothing else to do.

So here you have it!!

THE NEVERENDING POST!

Treat her like a lady!!!

X Files Fight for the Future
Superman II

A useless thread. Interesting. I think this means we need to jump start some conversations on the board! If only UNMASKED was airing already...

Well, don't worry DG, I have some threads in mind that might instigate some healthy conversations (I always hope!). I just try to spread out my new threads so it doesn't look like I am flooding the boards! (and trust me, if I did post all the new threads I have ideas for, I'd be bumping ALOT of good threads off the boards!)

I like this thread. A good useless thread is a good way to get post numbers to pull me closer to Inque's number!

It justs seems that the board is losing some activity. I wish they'd aired UNMASKED so we can get some long conversational threads going.

Ahh don't worry DG. I wouldn't say the boards are losing activity, I would say that people have settled down and are now deciding what color the china is gonna be :)
There has to be a thread like this on a board such as this one. It will be forgotten by time, to one day be posted in again :D
But yes, it sure is a pain to have to wait for Unmasked :(

Now to the useless fact of the day:

Today Lene Nystrøm and Søren Rasted from the Danish popgroup AQUA were married in Las Vegas to the tunes of Elvis Presley!

Ø os EO
Å is AA

Well, I can't visit this board without at least clocking in on here! And I kinda resent that comment about that's how I boosted my post number! Well if you can bump 'em down me thinks that you can bump 'em up. And how are we to know if you're not doing that right now.

Ya know, I think I'd just about do anything to have my post count artificially inflated, say to 10,000 posts, just for one day. After which you could reset it back to zero for all I care. Well actually I would care, just set it back to 70 something. But if you did that for me everyone else would want the same thing. It would be madness. Madness I say!

Not that there's anything wrong with that. ;)

What about some useless rules for the useless thread? ( useless cuz I can't actually make people follow them ;) )
How about:
1) Please try not to post two ( or 3-4-5-6 ect.) posts in a row. Keep your uselessnes to one post and write something really useless!
2)...umm...I wouldn't even bother :D

We are now a small gang of useless posters and here is the top 8 list:

1) Calhoun: has an impressive amount of useless 18 posts! Only three where in a row. Congrats Cal!

2) Mr Obsession: seconds with 8 posts. Four of them in a row. Here...you get a candy bar for that one.

3) Dick Grayson: A man who claims he hates uselessness and yet he gets third prize with total 6 posts. You have won a pink bb gun with polkadots!

4) 5 posts. We have 3 candidates for this one: Red Dragon, Birdboy and Optimal321. For your convenience we have a puddle of mud so you can wrestle for the fourth position. How about that? :D

5) Salvor and Fish - 4 posts. I tight draw here but with this post I will get one more than you Sal :) ( mind if I join yer mudwrestling guys?)

6) Maxie Zeus: A man who has descended from the high and mighty to find the purpose of useless posts. With 3 posts he is now very close to the answer!

7) Inque and Flash: 2 posts each. Where one might think that Inque would post and absurd number of replies to himself he has now learned that too much of something leads to..umm...uselessnes ( no pun inteded Ink!) ...and the mighty Flash as a reminder, not to posts to yourself! ( remember the useless rules Peeps!!)

8) 1 post: Dr Belch, Batboy2000, SJJ. I donno...with the mudpuddle fight, RD reminded the other two about that it wasn't a mudhole but an operating table...and she's the surgeon!!
And considering that you guys only contributed with one poor sod of a post, one might even call your posts reasonable! You guys get to clean the latrines the next month! With a toothbrush!
*booooo* :D

Yup...That was the useless nomination of the year.
Remember: this useless thread isn't for boosting your posts number, cuz then there would be reason behind your actions and we don't like that here in this useless post! :D

This is perhaps the most thoughtful post on this useless thread! As far as the rules go, I dunno....I don't always post twice in a row just to see my number jump up even more. Most times it's for a reason, and that's that I thought of something after I posted the message and it's easier to post a post script than to go in and edit the previous post. Now, maybe some people post more times in a row just to see their numbers jump, but if they do, it isn't something that's being abused.

Ya know those 3 (or 4..I forget) posts I made in a row? Well...they weren't supposed to be Number Bumbers.. I didn't even think about it at that point..seriously..I stopped caring about post numbers when I got past 10.. (I had to get rid of that Newbie sign! lol) I mean..come on guys... does it really matter if DG or Inque has more than you? I post when I have somthing cool to post, or when I have somthing to say in the RPG..so, when DG and Inque have somthing to say, then that means they must have alot to talk about! (or cuz there mods..heh). Anyway, all I'm saying.. is what's the big deal about big numbers? Sure, I liked having 300+ (ok..I only had 301..but I did have 300+! :) ) on the old board..hence why I have it in my signature ,but, that doesn't mean I'm gonna post excessivly on this board just to get my post number up!

OK, I don't think I made any sense in what I said above..anyway, I hope I got a tiny point of mine across in it..anyway..

Viva Useless Posts!!!!! So, did anybody get that DreamSNES thing workin'? I did.. ;)

I'm not saying I hate useless posts. When there's a thread with an actual conversation and someone throws in somethign that makes no sense and it outta place, that's useless. In a thread like this, it's commonplace, so not useless. Did that make sense?

By the way, how come people are so obsessed with their number of posts nowadays? It didn't use to be an issue on the old boards... now it has become a real contest... and I'm falling behind! :)

James Harvey
05-27-2001, 02:45 PM
I can't figure that out, either. I think its becuase on the old boards you couldn't see your post count unless you clicked on your name, but here it's right there, so people are just become competitive as to not have the lowest number. Of course, there are over fifty people here registered at these TZ boards who have zero posts, so I don't see the big deal.

Tuesday had come late that week, and it came all the more violently for having to follow Wednesday; it came with girdles loosened and dirndls undone. It was the last Tuesday of the month and it looked to be the last Tuesday for a good long time, such was the tumult of its coming. It looked as though a whole monthful of Tuesdays had elbowed their way into the day, between a bitter yellow sunrise that smelled of almonds, and a lurid sunset that curtained the west like a wreck of rotten tomatoes. It was the Tuesday between Wednesday and Thursday, with all that that entailed.

Oops. This is the "useless" thread and not the "non sequitur" thread, isn't it.

This is a reply to one way up there that was about us being obsessed w/ post numbers. I agree w/ Bird Boy in that i really stopped caring after i got it to say "member" under my name instead of "newbie." But if i say that i would like more post numbers, it's because it seems to be going a lot slower than on the last boards. With these, everyone came at the same time, but some people have like hundreds and I've got sixty or seventy. It's just a little humbling i guess, after being at the old boards.

Otherwise, when i post a reply to myself like this, it's either meant as a joke, or because i forgot to say something in my last one. And since this is the useless post, i can just come back and say it, rather than edit it or something.

Hey guys!! Don't excuse yourselves for the postings! that was not my intention with the nomination. As I told Bird Boy on aim:

"the reason I posted it was that...umm....I think people should be subtle with the posts cuz it's no fun to read " oh I replied to myself again for the 1444 time"[...] I just didn't want everybody think about the thread as a booster, but as a fun thing to post nothingness in"

now that is cleared up - <----even if it's not really important I just felt I needed to tell you - please continue to post useless posts and fool around!

I like big butts and I can not lie
You other brothers can't deny
That when a girl walks in with an itty bitty waste
And a round thing in your face
You get sprung
Wanna pull up front
Cuz you notice that butt was stuffed
Deep in the jeans she's wearing
I'm hooked and I can't stop staring
Oh, baby I wanna get with ya
And take your picture
My homeboys tried to warn me
But with that butt you got
Me so horney
Ooh, all of that smooth skin
You say you wanna get in my benz
Well use me use me cuz you aint that average groupy
I've seen them dancin'
The hell with romancin'
Sweat, sweat, got it goin like a turbo vette
I'm tired of magazines
Saying flat butts are the thing
Take the average black man and him that
She gotta pack much back
Fellas (yeah) Fellas(yeah)
Has your girlfriend got the butt (hell yeah)
Well shake it, shake it, shake it, shake it, shake that healthy butt
Baby got back

Sure it does, but I guess that the impression from your earlier post was that you were doggin this thread a little! This thread is fun! And I hate useless posts on normal threads to. Please, you all, unless you have nothing more to add than "I agree" or "I disagree," don't post! Nothing more aggrivating to go and read a thread you've been contributing to to find somebody has posted a reply that is basically meaningless.

Of course, there are over fifty people here registered at these TZ boards who have zero posts, so I don't see the big deal.

I made my 100th post known on the old boards too. People there thought about it, too, but perhaps some weren't so obsessive about it. Watching your post go from 100 to 200 to 300 and so on is like watching your spedometer turn over all those zeroes. It isn't just on these boards: people like seeing zeroes after numbers!

Also, on the old boards, Mr Grayson had over 4400 posts, which intimidated EVERYBODY! Not even Inque tried to reach that number! But here, everybody starts out on even ground. It's humbling for all of us. I may have more posts on these boards now, but it was kinda disheartening to start all over again. Now that I surpassed my old number, I don't care as much any more. But as I mentioned in another post, I will definately let you all know when I get to 1000!

Funny how Inque got unfairly dogged for replying a bunch of times inna row, and calhoun7 does it. Will the oddities ever end. Anyways, I suppose it is a great feeling to see that post number get larger and larger. There's a sort of dignity that comes with it, that you're actually replying and making yourself heard.

redDragon
05-27-2001, 11:58 PM
It is rather annoying but I'm assuming it's just 'cause they're too lazy to copy and paste each thing they want to reply too. Kind of a hassle to do so too. So it's all right when they're doing that....just not when it's posts not replying to several different things that they need to quote from

Calhoun07
05-28-2001, 12:18 AM
I don't post things in a row to boost my number! I can't stress that enough! And rather than copy and paste a bunch of things from different posts and reply to three or four things in one post, I feel it esteems and respects the original poster more to reply to their post ALONE. Lazy I ain't! And boosting my numbers to feel important I ain't! I reject your stereo types!

I'm solidly with calhoun07 on this. After all, that's the way it was done on the old boards, where replies branched off from each other. The only reason it's a hassle on this board is because we haven't the same tree-like structure so you can see at a glance how posts relate to other posts.

Maybe we should cultivate new habits now, but I think it's a perfectly legitimate and reasonable way to proceed.

Anyway, as for this thread: I like the comparison to a chat room. It's. . .
a . . .
chat . . .
that . . .
goes . . .
in . . .
slow- . . .
motion. . .

After over 400 posts here, more than I ever imagined on the old boards, I have to say I am finally getting used to the new format! It does take time, and sometimes I miss the branching, but you get used to it.

James Harvey
05-28-2001, 01:18 AM
I totally agree. After you post over and over and over, it's easy to get accustomed to the layout of the place. I hope everyone get's accustomed to it soon. After posting about 500 times here, I'm pretty used to it, but it still feels a bit weird compared to the old boards, where I had near 4400 posts. I think everyone here is adjusting nicely, and I'm glad.

I would think most parents would be thrilled that their children want to read.

It's not for me to judge, but this makes no sense to me. . . .

But then, I used to have two T-shirts. One said "So little time, so many books" and the other said, "When I have money I buy books. With what's left over, I buy food."

Hey all. I got some weird news today. My school is not offering it's senior AP Honors English class next year that i signed up for. Not enough people wanted to take it, so they are gonna axe it. Everyone else who signed up for it was pretty upset. I was too. Well, my friend and i joked and said very sarcasticly "oh darn. No summer reading." and it went on like that. I honestly don't mind. Well, guess i'll get back to useless...

BUT...they don't have them here( in my erea) yet cuz all the " old" packed icecreams must be sold first so I'm trying to buy all the Batman icecreams so I can have a BB icecream!! Maybe it's futile but I've certainly been eating alotta those yummy icecreams for the last two weeks!!!

if you look at the "McGinnis vs. Wayne" post on page 3 of the BB board, it says "Last Page"..it just shows up to 4 pages on the display screen, then it adds "Last page" so you get taken to the last page that it's currently on. And it doesn't hav enearly as many replies to it.

Is this last page question a trick question? The last page would be different for everybody, as you can set the number of threds that show up on your browser. For instance, I have mine set to display 40 at one time, but default is set at 30 at one time. Those who have it set at default see that "last page" thing before I do. I could set it to 60 and that would take the "last page" thing off my computer...for now. Or I could change it to 5, and really have LOTS of pages for the neverending thread!

I say, KEEP POSTING EVERYBODY! Pump this baby up to page 6!

Oddly enough, my [counts on fingers and mumbles to self] third ex loves rainy days. Though ironically she lives in California (or as she calls it, "Cali-f***-nia"), the sunshine capital of the world, she bitterly hates sunlight. Being a light-complexioned redhead, she has to wear heavy makeup on bright days or live inside a dark closet.

I remember when I first read about Shrek in Entertainment Weekly. I didn't know anything about the movie except that it was called Shrek, it was from Dreamworks, and it took a few shots at Disney. The first two points were all I needed to know at that instant I would love this movie and want to buy the DVD when it came out. And now that I have seen it, I love the movie and will buy the DVD when it comes out! I really anticipate any animated project from Dreamworks. And this one about the horse sounds every bit as enticing!

Seriously though, my condolences. From what I'm read, senile demenia disorders are no laughing matter. Psychologists believe them to be caused by deposits of aluminum and other metals in the brain, or by breakage/constriction of blood vessels that literally starve and kill grey matter. I read of one case where a man's brain actually shrank from the disease.

I once won a treasure chest of games from Cocoa Pebbles when I was a kid. I was excited! I looked at the drawing of it on the back of the cereal box, and it was this wooden chest open with all these games inside of it, and of course, I imagined I would get that! All I got was some flimsy box with one board in it that you could turn in different directions and you could turn it over and play a number of differnt games on one board. I was still glad to have won something tho, but the packaging was so flimsy and everything in the box was so chinsy, it didn't last very long. Which, in retrospect, is a crying shame. I surely could have sold something like that on ebay for good money had I taken care of it!

KyleWayne! J'ai comprens ton redaction! Aren't you proud of me? Et, aussi, des compains dans mon classe francaise vont visitent France en ete. Mais, je n'ai pas l'argent necessaire pour le vacation. Eh bien, quelquefois je suis (in a french mood) je peux dire avec vous.

I don't understand why people intentionally ditch school and put off work. Isn't just better to get work out of the way? Why put if off and face penalties when it can be handed in and get a great mark.

It is very sad that people who ALWAYS ditch school will someday get to vote.

If it's any consolation, I'm an instructor, and I understand the joys of procrastination. And just ask me how many times I've wanted to ditch the classes I teach . . . . ;)

I agree it's nice to ditch class once and a while, but 15 times? That's just a bit excessive, I think.

If I ditched class in high school, it was because of a girl! And what better reason is there than that?

I don't think there is a reason better reason. I ditched a couple classes in high school but not much. I don't think I reached double digits. I wanted to get out of their ASAP. Of course, in Uni it's much easier to just ditch class at a whim.

Shut the hell up. You're home schooled and have no idea what PUBLIC SCHOOL is like. You and DG are such nerds. :p

You're absolutely right DG. I should have started the research paper when it was assigned. But I didn't. And now that it has been over 2 weeks since I first went AWOL, I can't go back empty handed. I swear it will be done by tomorrow. I think I have ADD, or the COMP VAL gene.

I was never home schooled...:)

No offense to ya, PK. It just never struck me to hand in an assignment late. I just wanted to get out of there with good marks and get into a great Uni -- which I did, and I'm on my way to becoming a Journalist. Although high school was an amazing time of my life, but Uni is just so much...well...better!

I didn't mean to offend anyone. The people I was talking about skip every other day. I know what its like to go to regular school I used to go to one that had gang members in it.:D

You can't really skip days in homeschool unless the teacher says. And even if your sick, you gotta do school. Snow days? School. No special days off except for holidays!
