The Mouse on 57th Street
The title is very similar to the later Rocky & Bullwinkle episode The Louse on 92nd Street . Spiffany's is a good idea, but I believe this cartoon has references to alcohol (the rum cake). The mouse really seemed to try to get the diamond, not the boid, in this cartoon.
The Wabbit Who Came to Supper
This long cartoon prevented us from having seven today. The Easter Bunny gag at the end is good. This one of the cartoons where Elmer Fudd tried to get Bugs Bunny away by means other than a gun. This is because of Uncle Louie offering him money. He tries to get Bugs Bunny after he realizes the money is not his. Of course, there is the frequently mistaken offensive scene that doesn't even exist, but let's not go there.
Nasty Quacks
With all the airtime this cartoon gets, we are lucky to still be seeing the AAP version. Daffy Duck starts to be a pain around the house. The little girl still likes Daffy until the new duck comes. The adult man thinks he has it made, until Daffy uses vitamin B-1 on the little duck. The little duck becomes a full grown female duck, and they have many babies.
All Fowled Up
One of the last, if not the last appearance of the chicken hawk. There are a few funny lines in this cartoon. They include the jackpot joke not being laughed at, the feathers being numbered for such an emergency, and the Plymouth Rock line at the end. Barnyard dog makes the cartoon more interesting, too. This is probably one of the best Foghorn Leghorn cartoons.
Catty Cornered
This title would be re-used by MGM 13 years later. This is one of the better Sylvester and Tweety cartoons, and I believe part of my signature is based on it. Rocky (the gangster, not the squirrel) captures Tweety. His assistant is a Mugsy prototype. Sylvester rescues Tweety for food, but then gets stopped by a crowd. They think of Sylvester as a hero. Sylvester tries to eat Tweety instead of kissing him. I like this cartoon as much as the Roadrunner cartoons (which I like a lot).
Porky's Garden
It was computer colorized this time, but the Italian neighbor is still there. (He is essential to the plot). Porky Pig enters a contest. The reducing pills help him win. One of the funny parts during this cartoon is the way the Italian man talks. But soon political correctness will take this cartoon away. At least I have the B&W version already.
It was a very good show today.
