I don't know what it is about being hyped for a movie and going in and coming out disapointed. Well, I can't say disapointed, because I did enjoy this movie to a degree. All the Spinosaur scenes were GREAT! His intro scene was pretty scary, and the river boat scene at night and in the rain was pretty scary too. They did a good job making him a very scary looking dino.

Raptor stuff was great. Really enjoyed them and glad to see all the screen time they got this time around. I like the whole idea of them being able to talk to each other. The end where Dr. Grant pulls out that model of what the raptors make noise through was cool. Thought the trap scene was cool and how the raptors just killed that one guy for the hell of it. They were done with them him so it was like, ok, I'll just kill you.

William H. Macey was very enjoyable. I thought he added a lot to the movie and glad to see him be a part of the Jurassic Park franchise.

Flying dino scenes were great. It was great to see something new done.

The "eye candy" dinos as I put it were pretty neat too. Those dinos were the ones that they just stuck in there just so they could be seen. Bracheosaur, the dino in the scene where they were digging in the pile of sh*t, the short appearence of the compys, the armored spiked dinos. Sorry about the lack of names. I know what they are, I just can't think of them right now.

Gripe number 1. The Spino vs. T-Rex scene. While the CGI was great and the fight was great too, it ended too quickly and the T-Rex DIED!!! Since they were on Isla Sorna, we know at least there was one more T-Rex. What would have saved the movie for me at least was to have the other T-Rex find the dead one, sniff it and smell the Spinosaur on it, let out a big long roar and fade out. Then at the end during the river boat scene, we see T-Rex # 2 come out of the trees and whoop some ass on the Spino. Either have the T-Rex kill the Spinosaur or injure it to the point where it has to run away. Then the T-Rex lets out a roar of victory while the humans escape into the forest. That WOULD have made my day had they had something like that. I just couldn't believe that was all of a T-Rex that we saw.

Gripe # 2. The ending. I agree that it suddenly ended. The movie went by too quickly with me wanting more. I mean Dr. Grant plays with the raptor thingy, the raptors collect their eggs and leave because they know help is on the way for the humans. Big ol' beach invasion and every one hops into a chopper and flys away with the flying dinos (don't remember the name) flying next to them. It certainly leaves it wide open for a 4th movie. And there better be so it can save the franchise. I'm really curious what Spielberg has in mind. He did say that he has a story idea that would take the franchise in a whole new direction.

Grip3 # 3. Grant and Ellie aren't married? That sucks major ass.
Sticking Barney in there was pretty clever too.

Gripe # 4. The running time. Needed to be longer. As I stated, I just felt like there was more of a story to tell, more things to see and do.

Over all out of 5 stars I have to give it a 3. I think TLW was better.

Also, the gore level seemed to be toned down in this one. The people that were killed weren't really torn apart as we have seen in the last two. We have one off screen death in the beginning, and the rest of the deaths weren't that gory.

I don't think Sam Neill would have signed for this movie if this was they way it was written. I can't see him signing for something like this. But he didn't, he signed for a movie that had it's script thrown out 5 weeks prior to filming and they wrote it as they went. Apparently they had problems coming up with an ending. I don't see how that can be, it's so simple people! A new T-Rex getting revenge on the Spinosaur. You know, go out with a bang ending like JP and TLW!

The part where Grant and Billy are talking about the Spinosaur not being on InGen's list and what else InGen had done and created started an interesting topic that was never picked up again. What if InGen's plans for say like the Spinosaur or other dinos weren't being involved in a park? Bio-Weapons perhaps? Wow, that's something I'd really love to know.

Wow, I just keep adding to my own post here. Found these bits of info at http://www.dansjp3page.com/index2.asp. The following contains the original story for JP3 and Roger Ebert likes JP3. Also, here is a link to a site that is already collecting reported deleted scenes from JP3. http://www.jpaftermath.com/jp3_cutscenes.shtml

"JP3 Trimmed for MPAA
An article from this morning's Chicago Sun Times features JP3 director Joe Johnston revealing an interesting tid-bit of information about the editing process: "A few scenes had to be trimmed for the MPAA," Johnston says in the article. "Our biggest problem was a sound edit. The MPAA couldn't take the sound of a dinosaur snapping a human neck." Another one: The original script for JP3 was, according to Joe, "this whole mainland story of how people were being killed because the dinosaurs were coming over and killing them. It was more of a murder mystery and it just didn't work." And why is the standard "No animals were harmed during production this film" tag inserted at the end of JP3? "We had one live parrot who was treated like a king," Sam Neill says. "The disclaimer is for him."

"Ebert Likes JP3
Probably the only movie critic that I actually listen to, Chicago Sun-Times columnist Roger Ebert has given JP3 a positive review, saying "This movie does a good job of doing exactly what it wants to do.. Like the second half of a double bill in the 1940s, it doesn't overstay its welcome." More from Ebert's review:

I am aware that ''Jurassic Park III'' is shorter, cheaper and with fewer pretensions than its predecessors, and yet there was nothing I disliked about it, and a lot to admire in its lean, efficient storytelling. I can't praise it for its art, but I must not neglect its craft, and on that basis, I recommend it.
Ebert gives JP3 three stars, the same rating he gave JP back in 1993, and a whole star better than the rating he gave TLW. (Thanks Matt and Anthony)"

And you know what else sucks to boot? The fact that if there will be a 4th one, which I'm pretty confident there will be, it'll be another 4 years before we see it. There was a 4 year gap between JP and TLW and TLW and JP3. I don't know, are these long periods a good thing. In the case of JP3 I think a break will do good, that way Spielberg can really develope his "take this franchise in a new direction" idea. But still, 4 years? Too long!

OK, I am really done now until someone else posts. :)

I really enjoyed it! I thought it was much better than the 2nd one!! While it was short, I don't think it needed to be any longer(that's what messed up TLW). I thought William H. Macy and Tea Leoni were great and so was Sam Neil. The kid in this one was good too( better than the previous ones). My 2 major complaints:
1) Alan and Ellie weren't married
2) Billy ended up living( I know it sounds morbid but it would have been so much better)

I thought it royally kicked. I love movies that I can sit down, watch, and never get bored. It felt different than the others (lack of T-Rex maybe?) though. I didn't think I'd want to go see it again..or even buy it..but about 3 hours later after seeing it..I want to own it, and go see it again. It's just one of those movies.

The Alan and Ellie thing sorta sucked..but..eh.... It was also cool how it had more humour than the others..hehe..the cell phone. Anyway, I really enjoyed the movie, and I recommend you go see it!!!!!!:D

Also..that sceen when they were looking at the baby raptors in the capsules... in that one room...when the live raptor popped out from behind the one..it scared the fodder out of me. It was, along with Shrek, the best movie I've seen this year.

I loved seeing Macy in this, and he said he wants to go back for a 4th turn, which would help. I'd hate to see a 4th with an all-new cast. Sam Neill was great, as usual. I'm glad he tagged along. I was dissapointed Tea Liponi lived. If there was one person I wanted to see brutally chomped up by the dinos, it's her. I never liked her, and she came off as over annoying. I was also suprised by the low body count, and how graphic-less it was. Look at TLW: JP. That had some graphic scenes in there. But JP3 did it's job and kept me entertained throughout.
