1. 'TNT' stands for what?
2. (2-parter):
That thing with the plunger that detonates dynamite:
a. what is it called?
b. how does it work?

I don't know the answers to your explosives questions, but I think P.S. stands for post-script.

1. I'll parse this for ease of reading:
Tri Nitro Toluene
(the last part is pronounced 'tall you ween')
2. a. I've only ever heard it called a 'detonator' or 'igniter'.
b. It generates an appropriate amount of electrical current needed to ignite the explosive.

1. I believe it is tri-nitrate toloune
2.
a. blasting machine
b. it is a magneto (permanent magnet and wire coil - same as the crank-operated device on the (very) old phones).
p.s. is INDEED 'post script' ('after the writing')
