Yeah so, before I go completely insane here, does anyone know ANYTHING about TNN talking to John K.? Spumco.com has been inaccessible since Jerry Beck posted the story, Steve Worth isn't replying to emails, and I haven't seen discussion of it anywhere.
I mean...CHRIST. Reading that on Jerry's site was one of the most exciting moments of my life. I'm still convinced that the world is playing an elaborate, disgusting joke on me but...can it be? Is it possible that the world is apologizing for being a ****hole and is returning John's babies to their rightful home?

It sounded interesting, whether true or not. I never really liked Ren and Stimpy because instead of slipping in a few gross gags now and then, it was all-farts all the time. I did, however, enjoy a few of the John K.-directed ones, that's why I even bothered to read that story. "Stimpy's Invention" was a classic. I also remember watching the premiere (or second_) episode of this when it first came on, in which Stimpy "rots his brain" watching the Muddy Mud Skipper cartoon.

Really? I don't know what episodes YOU watched, but the only fart gag I can think of is the elaborate one that formed the entire plot of "Son of Stimpy." And there were quite a few "gross gags," but the brilliant directing and the absurdity/surrealism of some of the shorts really overshadowed them all.
Anyway, John's a great director, and you probably know the story. If you don't enjoy the show you have to at least appreciate that the series creator might be getting his characters back.

I read that article, but I'm confused. How can John K. make any new R&S episodes when he lost rights to those characters to Nickelodeon?
And what HAS happened to Spumco.com? That site's been down for months.

The basic idea behind it, I think, is that Viacom owns Nick and TNN, and therefore TNN can basically legally hire anyone to make new episodes of the show, without having to fear getting sued by Nick. If you want new episodes of R&S to succeed, you might as well go with the ones who made them famous and who had the support of the fans when Nick gave them the boot.
