View Full Version : So what could have been done to BB if it went on?

I mean what loose plot ends needed to be tied together, before it ended?

It would have been cool to have some of the big questions answered, and to see them explore the Beyond world a bit more in depth to see what happened to some other Bat villians. But who knows, we might get some good treats in the final episode.

I've spent too long, as a Batman and Superman franchise fan, being hated by WB so unfortunately I'm as bitter as Bruce himself. I doubt there will be anything we'd want out of a final episode in Batman Beyond's final episode. They're just holding it back and stringing us along like they did with Batman and Superman.

But what would they have been able to fix? My answer: Everything. Many pro-Terry people say how Terry's reason for Batman does work, but many more feel otherwize because there is no proof. If the show was picked up more, Terry'd get more development, showing how he wants to make up for past sins, and to make sure that other young misguided punks don't end up like he almost did.

Another thing that has only been touched on a tiny bit is how strong Bruce and Terry's relationship is. Episodes like Sneak Peak weren't enough. And I think that's a darn shame. Not many people noticed the same night Terry lost his father is the exact same night he met Bruce. Cool symbolism there, I want more please.

Thirdly, we have to fix Max. She was an okay addition at first, providing Terry with a link to the high school because he wasn't always around (and of course we liked that! ;) ). Then the writers took away her high tech brain and replaced it with a small vegetable.

According to the producers, half the episodes of season four would have been JLU-focused, while the rest of the episodes would touch more on the past. Dang.

Here's my philosophy, paraphrased from Nightwing in OLD WOUNDS:

Coulda, woulda, ain't gonna do it.

Now, don't get me wrong, i have no problem w/ pondering the great things we could have gotten, had the show continued. But instead, i'm gonna try my hardest to just remember the great things we did get, and accept the fact that it's all we'll get. For now anyways.

But to answer your original question, sure we would have seen more character development in both the Batmen (Bruce and Terry) and the bad guys. Just like we had been getting in the earlier seasons. And it would have been great. But i'll just look back on the wonderful three seasons and ROTJ and think, sure i only got enough to whet my appetite, but it was one hell of a meal.

Nicely put optimal321.

I think a little more growth in Terry. I think something should have been done about Max. Perhaps given her introduction into the story some meaning. It would have been great if they had turned her into a villian (what? she ain't a villian already!?)

They could have made series 4 a big story arc with Max turning against Terry. They could have resolved it and ended it as well as the question of Terry as Batman.

I think the show should have resolved the issue of Terry/Batman. I'd have killed of Bruce in the last few episodes and then addressed the questio of whether Terry would continue as Batman after Bruce died.

This would then finished the series and given us a beginning (Terry meeting Bruce and learning to be Batman), a middle (the introduction of Max as a close friend and Bruce's distrust of her) and an end (the demise of Bruce at the hands of Max and the resolution of Terry's quest as Batman).

A little too much for WB to stomach I know.... but I can dream!!!

They can't have Max kill Bruce! That's so totally against the demographoc they want! I wish she wasn't around. It would've been so much cooler to have Dana in on the secret. There could've been some major MOTP-esque problems. I would've liked to have seen Clayface pop up becuase w eknow he'd be back. He's in the same situation as Freeze, so he would definatly be around. A 4th season devided between JLU and Bruce's past would've been great, I think. More time to flesh out the JLU charaters, and have more Bruce. Although, somehow, WB would screw it up by de-aging them "permenatly" somehow ina battle. Bastards...

Well, yes, we all would have liked to see more character development and a definite arc to season 4. But when you get right down to it, they had 3 seasons and 52 episodes to do that, and they didn't. Is there really much reason to think they would have been able to do it in another 13?

Don't get me wrong, I would want to see more BB episodes, but I can't imagine season 4 would be any different from what we've already seen. Best case scenario: More eps like those that graced season 3 (Out of the Past, King's Ransom, The Call, etc.). Worst case: More eps like those that disgraced season 2 (Plague, Rats!, TFDAR).

Bottom line: What we would wish from a season 4 is retrospectively what we wish we could have had from seasons 1 - 3.

Seeing Terry more developed in a new season would be awesome.

As much as I'd hate to see it, I would be curious to see a story done where Bruce dies and Terry has to carry on without him. Would Terry be the Batman he needs to be all alone? Would he have learned everything he needed by then? I doubt this story will ever happen, but it's one of those What If things that's fun to ponder. Of course, I am sure if the series did continue, they would keep Bruce around as long as they have kept Aunt May around in Spider Man.

Well, I would like to give the irritating inclusion of Max some relevance! If we have had to tolerate her for a couple of seasons I'd like to see some reason for it by the end of the series! Imagine if she had killed Bruce, imagine the hatred that character would receive on top of what she has already!

In fact, I think that would make her the ultimate Bat villian of all time!!

I think if they had done that, watching series 2 would have been far less painful - knowing that this girl was relevant to the story and was one day going to fall from grace and become Terry's worst nightmare...

That seems pretty cool to me!! :)

Well...if she were hypnotized by Spellbinder... a suggestion imbedded in her subconscious, triggered by a phrase that could be spoken either in ordinary conversation or over the phone...then she could be commanded to whack Terry and/or Bruce....

I would have like to see Inque and Deanna settle matters between them..."Never mind 'wait till Father gets home', punkin. It's Mommy you have to worry about!" Heh heh....

However, I have a feeling the scripts would have only gone to blazes, if what I've read about the last few BB comics are any indication. Bringing back Rat-Boy and Ma Mayhem? Aagghhadda. Sooner or later we would have seen this in a BB comics preview:
"A gang of Jokerz breaks into the old Shreeve Laboratories, and, while fooling around, one of the gang shoves a piece of equipment up his bum. When he passes gas, he realizes the device magnifies the sound of his flatulence 20 times, giving it the power to knock down walls. Can the Tomorrow Knight stop these clowns from going on a rampage farting the town to pieces?"

Yes, I am quite mad.... :p

Something different from the "villain of the day" the show was starting to head towards...

I wouldn't want BB to become a serial--that would contradict the show's original objective. But some subtle continuity would have been nice, and a bit more intrigue that lasts more than 1 or 2 episodes. I definitely think there should be a more prominent female presence--preferably a recurring villainess who becomes Terry's arch-enemy, which I feel Terry was sorta lacking. He had Inque, but I never felt that he connected with many of the more MAJOR villains on a personal level. It was more like, "Ho hum, here's another job for me to solve, another domestic dispute for me to put out..." He had all these cool villains, but they needed that one villain to be HIS Joker.

More Zeta crossovers; ) :D !!!

Yes the fugitive robot and his freind Ro are now a regular part of BB. Showing up with all their wacky hijinks, and heck even managing to show up and help the JLU by thwarting an invasion from Darkseid. Heck we could even have that triangle with Dr. Blech, Ro, and ZETA!!! Ye ha.

Hey, that reminds me of that Beast Wars ep where Rhinox had that virus that depleted his energon levels when he passed gas (or sneezed or hiccupped ect.). And it all ended w/ a giant rhino sized fart that defeated all of the Predacons. Only i think the writers' intent for that ep was to be funny.

the main thing i want to know?.... What happened to Dick Grayson?!?!?! every body else is mentioned from the Bat Team but him, and that's really got on my nerves. as for the rest of the season, i heard it was supposed to have more to do with the JLU, but that's about it...
