Umm, no. Why would anybody be mad? Because it was a tad on the cheezy side? Perhaps you should go into more detail, as to what you are asking. I don't totaly understand what you're getting at. :)

I'm thinking yes and no. It got a lot of airtime and made the DC heroes on the show who weren't well known very popular. It also made a lot of money in the form of toys, games, lunch boxes, etc. However, the kids who watched those shows grew up to be the adults of today, and (as is the case with the 60s Batman show) those adults who work in Hollywood look back on that show and accept it as the literal interpretation of DC heroes. They think that Superman has every power imaginable, Batman runs around in the daytime with the Dick Grayson version of Robin, Wonder Woman has an invisible plane, Aquaman can only talk to fish, etc. It's been especially damaging to Aquaman, because no one outside of comic circles thinks that he can do more than communicate with aquatic life. Makes it hard for ol' Arthur to get any respect. :(

I like it...I've had to role my eyes at it sometimes, but it's Pre-Crisis, it doesn't have to be taken seriously.

I agree, although my reasoning is a bit different. Me, I pretty much excuse America's social existence during the whole 1960-1970 period, :P particularly from a Batman/Superman fan's POV. Superfriends, Adam West's Batman..... We were in a....interesting mindset during the time. That's how I see it anyway. :)

Heck, no. The Superfriends were just fine for me at that age. The stories were silly at times, but it was enjoyable.

The Wonder Twins were a great concept for superheroes, it was just too bad that they were made into bungling wanna-be heroes. I would like to see them make a guest appearance on JL, but grow them up and make 'em cool.

Let's change 'em from Steven Urkel to Stephan Urquelle and give 'em a shot! Heh, heh...

I don't know...I think Superfriends is pretty funny. It's in that category of being so badly done that it's fun to watch.

Not at all. I grew up on it. Every Saturday morning in the 70's. Back than it was the coolest thing ever.

I see the 1960's Batman in a different light than Superfriends today. Batman today seems more like a spoof or a farce that was meant to be over the top and funny. Batman wasn't actually "bad" when seen in that light. But no matter how you look at it, Superfriends was just bad.

I was born in '65, so "Superfriends" was great to me at the time.
Sure, watching it now at 36 is a bit, um, tough... but not when it came out. I loved it then, especially when we got a "Special Guest Star" like The Flash or the Green Arrow. And Alex Toth's character designs were great.

And let's face it... Bruce Timm, Paul Dini, Alex Ross, and who-knows-who-else were obviously fans, too- and I'd say that they are certainly all doing right by us now. That has to count for something !!

I’m sorry, but the Wonder Twins won’t last five seconds on “Justice League.”

And that’s not an opinion. It’s a fact.

Not so. The writing will determine how long anyone lasts. In the first moments of "Legends" we see Green Lantern smack on the pavement and become unconcious despite being surrounded by a "protective" green energy field. So does that mean without his ring he would have been killed? But wait! Later, Hawkgirl gets punched by the same massive robot with no energy field and lives. It's all poetic license and good or bad writing.

The Wonder Twins were a victim of the writers wanting comic relief and to purposely win younger viewers.

And, yes, it is your opinion, not fact. You're not the JL creator nor the writer. You can only watch and speculate like the rest of us.

I think what Dark Lantern means is that Bruce Timm would never allow such a thing to happen, because he despises the Superfriends. (So I've heard anyway.) So if the creators weren't going to let it happen for a fact...then it is a fact. But who knows...they might change their mind.

how do you know that?

if you know the cypher, Dark Lantern's coded message in the Junior Justice Guildsman thread has a very interesting spoiler only someone with inside info would know (provided that its true of course)

maybe hes a writer-- or Bruce Timm himself :D

Great! I despise the Superfriends too! :D Despite this, I do enjoy watching it for comedy, though... like "BlackTerror" said, it's so badly done that it's fun to watch, as if it was a parody of Batman:TAS, Superman:TAS, and Justice League.

Superfriends' contribution to Dini, Timm & Co. was to show them what NOT to do when making cartoons out of the DC Universe. And it delivers!

As for the Wonder Twins, Marvin & Wendy, or their ridiculous animal pets... there is NO way to make those characters cool, IMO. "Shape of a giant lobster!" "Form of giant icicle tweezers!"

LOL. Wendy, Marvin, Wonderdog, and Gleek were annoying premises and, therefore, annoying characters. The idea of alien twins with special powers when they touch is a wonderful premis. Unfortunately, the premis was executed badly. :(

Very true. The Wonder Twins could easily be made to be competent fighters; it's not like a "giant lobster" is the only thing that Janya (sp) could turn into.

Wendy/Marvin/WD/Gleek would be awful b/c as you said, the premise of their characters was ridiculous. They had no skills that would allow them to survive any battle.

Looks like I was misunderstood, with good reason. I meant no offense or insult, but I was stating a fact. My opinion is actually more in line with yours, but my opinion does not matter. Just wait, and you will know what I am talking about.

You despise the Super Friends? Man, I love Super Friends. I don't like it as much as Justice League and God knows it's rediculous but hey...gotta love it.

No offense taken. :)

If you mean that our opinions don't matter to the writers and producers, I wonder how true that really is. Do Dini et. al actually take fan critique into condiseration when coming up with material? Most of the time we tend to complain, but some of us make quite good points about plot continuity and character consistency.

Once again I have been misunderstood. I have stated that my opinions do not matter, at least as far as the Wonder Twins are concerned, because, again, I am talking about a fact (see “70’s Villains You Want Today” for a little clarification).

Fan critique is and has been taken into consideration. There is no doubt about that.

Havent read the issue, but I understand that the Wonder Twins DID appear post Crisis in...uh...'Extreme Justice?' (Not sure on that one) and were actually half way competent. Like someone else said, it's all in the writing.

If Aquaman hadnt been remade fairly recently, and you had just the Superfriends version to go buy, would you be able to conceive of him as being a gritty character? Serious question.
