<<<Hamateur Night>>>
You spelled it right, but that title probably gets the award for being the most frequent WB title to be spelled wrong.
<<<The Night Watchman>>>
I am assuming that still has the restored titles.

"Hamateur Night"
One of the first appearances of Egghead (who appears to have a sizable family). In the scene with the swami the screen seemed to have a strange sort of blurred effect that looked almost 3-D...like the dude was looking right at the audience. I don't know if that was intentional, but it was a nice--and slightly creepy--effect. The emcee sounded a bit like George (Junior's lil' friend). One of Avery's most fast-paced and riotous pieces.
"Switchin' Kitten" (MGM, Tom & Jerry)
One of the better Dietches; the layered backgrounds also lend a 3-D effect...though I never cared for the music/SFX in the T&Js this man directed. Cute to see Tom freak out at the barking cat, or at Jerry's parody of the famous MGM lion logo.
"The Night Watchman"
Jones' first effort. A fair cartoon, but I liked his first short with Spaniel and Boxer ("Dog-Gone Modern") better.
"The Football Touchdowner" (Fleischer)
Another story about when Popeye first tasted spinach, during a peewee football game. Notable for seeing a young Bluto, Olive, and Wimpy. Dig those weird football calls! Love the bit where Swee'pea eats spinach and clocks Popeye a good one.

Hi Argus, hope you're enjoying your trip. Thad had already posted the 7/16 Acme Hour contents (guess you didn't see it)... so what I did was merged your thread with his.

I have the B & W version. No 3-D backgrounds.

That blurred scene might have been a bad Technicolor negative combining.
Sometimes, when the 3 Tech negatives are re-combined to form the full color image, the registration of the 3 images might not match up 100% due to improper printing.
This "effect" can be seen on the Wizard of Oz DVD and Anchors Aweigh DVD (Although, the latter really suffers from bad match-up while the former only has about 3 seconds of the movie having this defect.)
The "proper" term for this is called fringing. It's really evident on early color processes before Technicolor.
