1. What's the difference between the Justice League (comic version), Justice Guild, and Justice Society?
2. How different are the designs for the Legends arc than the comic book versions?
3. What's the difference between the Golden Age and the Silver Age?
4. What's with this post-crisis, pre-crisis I keep hearing about? What's up with that?
Thank you for taking the time to answer all of my questions.

1. What's the difference between the Justice League (comic version), Justice Guild, and Justice Society? The Justice Guild never existed in comic continuity, but their counterparts, the Justice Society, have existed for over 60 years now.
2. How different are the designs for the Legends arc than the comic book versions? Not very different at all, but different enough to appease the DC Editors that (thankfully!) prevently the real JSA from being used.
Black Siren is Black Canary (http://www.execpc.com/~icicle/BLACKCANARY.html), and is probably the closest to the original design out of the five of them. Catman has been described as a Batman/Wildcat (http://www.execpc.com/~icicle/WILDCAT.html) amalgam, and looks the part. Green Guardsman is undoubtedly the carbon copy of Alan Scott, Green Lantern (http://www.execpc.com/~icicle/GAGL.html). The Streak is Jay Garrick, the Flash (http://www.execpc.com/~icicle/GAFLASH.html) and at least still has Jay's eyes and lightning bolt costume. And Tom Turbine is the Atom (http://www.execpc.com/~icicle/GAATOM.html) with undertones of the original Superman.
3. What's the difference between the Golden Age and the Silver Age?The Golden Age ran from the years of 1938-1951, and featured the Justice Society, the All-Star Squadron, and other lovable (and sadly, sometimes forgettable) characters. The Silver Age ran from 1956, (starting with the debut of Barry Allen, the second Flash, in SHOWCASE #4,) and ran arguably up until sometime in the mid-70's, when things became the "Iron Age." Others will tell you that the Silver Age ran right up until 1986, to the CRISIS ON INFINITE EARTHS.
4. What's with this post-crisis, pre-crisis I keep hearing about? What's up with that? Before 1986, the DC Universe was a series of never-ending earths. The JSA lived on Earth-2 where they'd always remain young and in the middle of WWII. The Crime Syndicate lived on Earth-3 (someone correct me if I'm wrong) which was a world in which good and evil were reversed; the Crime Syndicate was an evil Justice League that prevented the forces of good, and so on. There were billions of these worlds, and eventually, continuity got overwhelming for writers, so they wrote a story in which a huge force, the Anti-Monitor, destroyed all these earths and started the universe over.
Pre-Crisis refers to continuity before the CRISIS and Post-Crisis is obviously afterward. The JL we see now is based heavily upon the post-Crisis universe, as was BATMAN: THE ANIMATED SERIES and SUPERMAN: THE ANIMATED SERIES.

Just thought this thread warranted a bump in case some of you had questions about the real JSA or the Infinite Earths or anything about the episode, please feel free to ask in this thread or PM me personally. I'm just overjoyed to see a sudden interest in JSA, and I'm happy to fill in the gaps. :)

Yes it was nice to see a larger than life episode again for a change...you won't see many of those really redicualous imaginatory episodes, unless you watch the Super Friends...but that was different.

Hey Green Lantern, gotta question.
That magician guy in "Legends"...who is he an homage to? I got Doctor Blizzard (Icicle, and Captain Cold) Sports Man (Sportsmaster), and isn' t the Music Master some guy named the Fiddler? But that magician, who's name also escapes me, I don't know where he's from.
Thanx

Somebody already answered this elsewhere but...
The swami guy was a homage to The Wizard, the original leader of the Injustice Society. He wore a typical magician's outfit with a top hat, cape, and wand.

I thought Catman is a spoof of himself. There is a Catman in the JSA.

Hmm...after seeing the Justice Guild on TV it makes me wonder how long it'll be before they get their own intro into the DCU. While invented solely for the series I wouldn't be surprised if they became mainstays in the DCU, I mean look at the popularity of Harley Quinn.

I mean look at the popularity of Harley Quinn. You can also include Aresia and Tsukuri in that list.:)
