ahh well
DARKSEID and HIGHFATHER are the REAL gods
the rest are pretty minor in comparison
remember, HIGHFATHER is part of the Quintessense
Darkseid commands the OMEGA effect and HIGHFATHER controls THE SOURCE

They consider themselves gods, but they're not immortal. They're the upper ranks of Apokolips, thus they have the title "God". The main New Gods are Darkseid, Kanto, Granny Goodness, Lashina, Bernadeth, Virmin Vundabar, Stompa, Mad Harriet, Artemis, Amazing Grace, and Kalibak. Of course, there's been other New Gods, but those are the core New Gods (I don't know if Artemis would be considered one; She wasn't one of the original Female Furies).
EDIT: Forgot Desaad, he's one too.

According to Morrsion during his JLA run there were Old Gods or Gods that were around before the New Gods but they were killed by Mageddon. Then these "New" Gods showed up, thus the name New Gods, and they to were almost killed but Mageddon was thwarted by the JLA. Also, I may be wrong but last time I checked, Takkion is now Highfather, is this true still?

It depends on your definition of gods. I for one do not worship the New Gods.

From the explanation I remember from the DC miniseries, War of the Gods, the New Gods are actually the first gods of the universe from where all gods, roman, greek, eqyptian, etc came from. Don't know if it's been revised since then.
