Okay it says in Fury that the coty is Gotham, but it doesn't look like the Gotham I remember from the animated seires. The same goes for Metropolis. All the cities look the same on the show. No identity. I think they should at least let each city have it's own tone. Don't you guys agree?

Gotham & Metropolis are distinctively different and I'm disappointed that all the cities seem to be the same.
In "In Blackest Night..." I thought GL was in Metropolis because I thought I say Hobb's Bay. But I guess it was Coast City. I don't know.
And those "Metropolis" brand police cars pop in every city. I miss the old-fashioned squad cars from the Gotham series.
Hopefully they correct this in future episodes

I doubt it. It would probably be too much effort for them to make each city it's own city.

maybe not
i mean, apart from Gotham, aren't Metropolis, Central City, Coast City, & Gateway City more or less the same? Isn't Gotham the only burgh that's truly unique?

Not really, Metropolis is strongly influenced by the silent film of the same name. As for Coast City and Central City, since we really haven't seen them before, i can't say. But damn it when we're in Metropolis we should see the Daily Planet!

Nah it wouldn't be effort, it would be style. I just don't get it. Some backgrounds look very stylish in the show (like the Ape city, the Amazons world... can't recall the names :)) while others (cities more often than not) look terribly bland, and display such a dearth of creativity. Is it too much exertment to provide good art? Come on, is the show's budget that small??

Yeah, somebody when they are talking to Bruce Timm or something like that next time should ask what's the deal with the cities. They should also ask what's the deal with Flash's secret ID. Just once i want him to say. Howdy, Flash, aka wally west here at your service.

the problem is they are relying to much on the computer, they let the computer insert background and just forget about it.

On the Topic of Cities, in the DC Universe is it that that took Real Cities and renamed them? Like
Metropolis = Manhattan, NYC
Gotham City = Brooklyn/Bronx, NYC
Coast City = Los Angeles, CA
Is that how it goes with the DC Universe?

It's been said that the original Metropolis was inspired by the city of Toronto, but the Metropolis in the Superman toons from Fleisher Studios have a distinct New York City feel to them. In fact, in one toon Clark was reading a paper which mentioned that the island of Manhattan was saved from any further earthquakes by Superman.
In the current DCU, John Byrne fashioned Metropolis after NYC, giving it six boroughs, giving some islands and locations similar names (St. Martin's Island/Staten Island; Stryker's Island/Riker's Island, etc.) and so on. Gotham is slightly modeled after NYC, but feels more like a Manhattan/Chicago hybrid city. Also, neither city is located in New York State, because the DCU already has New York City. So:
Metropolis is on the banks of the Delaware River
and
Gotham City is in Southern New Jersey, presumably a few miles south of Atlantic City.
