Is this a new "Tom and Jerry" cartoon? Which designs did they use?

Yep, it's a new T&J cartoon that sort of uses the old MGM design (It sort of reminds me of a mix between the classic looking characters and the Gene Dietch characters, but I guess it isn't). The short premiered on Boomerange, I think, and was then shown twice on the Tom and Jerry Smackdown special Cartoon Network had a few weeks ago.

If you think it will look like an old MGM cartoon, you will be surprised, it looks very modern, with abstract scenery that would fit in better with one of the new Cartoon Cartoons (IMHO). There are a gew really neat scenes with vintage pictures of Hanna and Barbera in the backgrounds, though.

It was okay gagwise, but I didn't think the music did much for it. Maybe I should watch it again.

Who directed it? Where was it made?

I did a quick search, here's a page with screen captures and information. I don't know more than what this page says. http://www.tomandjerryonline.com/boomerang.htm

It was co-directed by Karl Toerge and Joe Barbera.

I saw that short as well, the other day on Boomerange.

I didn't really think much of it mostly because there wasn't much violence(well not the good old T&J violence).
Wasn't the mans voice done by either william or joe?(Hanna and barbera I mean).

He was voiced by Joe Barbera, he even had the innitials "JB" on his shoes, I believe.

I didn't much like the pacing of the short, I think that hurt it, along with the music and backgrounds...

Thanks for answering that Jack.
What would have made the short really good would be to include Mammy-two-shoes.
BUT I don't think we have a chance in hell of ever seeing her again.

So Mammy is censored in the UK too, huh? What a sad sad world. The upside is that CN has releaxed it's standards with Indians, they showed the Two Little Indians cartoon again last night (with the two Nibbles mice, but I guess one could be Nibbles and the other can be Tuffy).

Oh no we still get Mammy(Luckly),I ment that the cartoon would be funny if she was in it BUT no one would ever think of including a black maid in a new cartoon(Even if she was in it originaly).
I'm glad CN USA is getting more relaxed with indians in cartoons(Or native americans,I don't want to be seen as racist),even though I'm not so keen on "Two little indians",do you think the might add the indian footage to "Flirty birdy" and/or "Kitty foiled"?

I don't recall, sometime around the Friday night repeat of the Acme Hour on Tom and Jerry. It was the middle cartoon, the first was a Jones (maybe, or it could have been a Dietch, unless I'm confusing T&J airings), and the third was "Little School Mouse."

Even though I already have it on tape, at least someone at CN still cares.....
