My question is about the last line Bugs says in this cartoon. It sounds to me like he's saying,
"I sure hope Atrillo doesn't find out about this."
Is this what he says? Or what does he say instead of "Atrillo," and what is he talking about?
Does anybody know?

Actually, the line is "I sure hope Petrillo doesn't find out about this". Petrillo was the head of some musical organization at the time when the cartoon was released.
Believe it or not, only a handful of WB cartoons had references that would come across as obscure today. Another Bugs Bunny cartoon, "High-Diving Hare", has a reference to a popular song of the day called "Open the Door, Richard". Listen for it...!

Yup, I remember that one, from HIGH DIVING HARE.
"Open that door! Open that door!.....ya notice I didn't say Richard?" :p :D

A few weeks ago I contacted Jerry Beck regarding the song that Bugs is playing on his banjo at the beginning of "Long-Haired Hare." He said that the song is called "A Rainy Night in Rio" from the film "The Time, the place, and the girl."
My question is . . .
Does anyone know the complete lyrics to this song? (including the part where we can't really hear Bugs because of Giovanni Jones practicing his arias)
P.S.: I ask this question because "Long-Haired Hare" is my favorite Bugs cartoon.

The "open the door" joke is also in the cartoon CROWING PAINS. Except Foghorn Legorn says, "Open the window, Richard!" Instead of "Open the door, Richard!"

This site (http://www.factmonster.com/ce6/people/A0838631.html) is an encyclopedic entry for James C. Petrillo (d.1984), then the president of the American Federation of Musicians.
The gist of the gag is that while the wabbit is now a musician, he's not a member of the union.

What do they do on a rainy night in Rio?
What do they do when there is no starry sky?
What do they do when they can't go for a walk,
Do they stay home and talk?
Or do they sit and sigh- ay-yi!
Where do they woo on a rainy night in Rio?
Where do the gay senoritas say si-si?
Maybe the girl wants a tender kiss and yet, how tender can you get,
when you're beneath a wet palm tree?
But what do they do in Mississippi when skies are drippy?
And what are they doing when it's murky in Albquerque? (sp?)
And what do they do in Tijuana when they wanna snuggle tight?
Well, that's what they do in Rio on a rainy, rainy night!
A few years ago, RCA released a CD of Desi Arnaz's greatest hits. One of them is " A Rainy Night in Rio". Long Haired Hare is actually referenced in the liner notes!
