This is a dumb idea, since it'll never happen, but I always thought it would have been cool if there was a two part Batman Beyond story where Matt McGinnis became Robin to aid Terry, who was in some kind of peril. He could wear Tim Drake's old costume, sans cape.

Does that sound dumb?

Not really. They had dumber things in Batman Beyond, that's for sure!

I think a story like that might wrap the series up nicely. Matt develops suspicions of who Batman may be (thanks to chatting with that other boy from "Unmasked") and starts to snoop around. Meanwhile, Paxton Powers is haunted by images of his father, the late Blight. When Matt is finally convinced Terry is Batman, he makes his own make-shift Robin outfit and follows Terry as he investigates Paxton Power's murder. Blight, watching nearby notices Batman's little partner before Terry realizes Matt is there, and he puts two and two together. As Batman investigates, Blight kidnapps Matt...

In part two, Terry returns home unaware that Matt was ever with him, though his mother soon realizes that he's gone. Terry tries to convince her that they need protection, and she realizes that he's Batman. At school Terry ends his relationship with Dana permanently, determined to get Matt back from Blight and then keep his loved ones safe. He goes to Bruce for advice, but finds him motionless in his bed and presumes he is dead. Blight meanwhile, keeps Matt locked away and sets in motion a plan to destroy the Wayne-Powers corporation by poising all their products and equipement, before destroying the entire building, and great portion of the city. Terry shows up, a fight ensues, and the building is destroyed. A massive radiation leak begins to destroy the city...

Bruce, meanwhile, very much alive, uses one of Temple Fugate's devices - the time-machine - mixed with boom tube technology to open a gateway to the past. The viewers are left thinking that he has travelled back to warn his younger self about the right path to take to prevent the events of BB from happening. I know it's a wierd ending, but hey, BB's only an elseworld's right? This way, it's open to interpretation, and BB fans get to see a "Over the Edge" -type ending to Terry's quest, which is more than what "Unmasked" provided.

Eh, Robin never really fit into the Beyond universe. We already had the kid demographic, and there was a team-feeling with Terry and Bruce. There really was no need for Max or Matt or whoever to be a Robin. But that's just imo.

For the record, I hated Matt, too. He was portrayed as nothing more than an annoying little gnat. I would have liked to see a serious story with him.

matt was, as terry would say, a "twip".

he had the hugest head. and i agree that robin had no place in the beyond universe because robin is always portrayed as a teen or young adult. which is basically what beyond is filled with.

what would've been a better idea is to have a two part episode where terry goes to investigate a case at bludhaven cuz bruce has learned his old partner dick grayson (nightwing) has been missing for several days. when terry gets there, he runs into bludhavens own hero, the new nightwing, who was training under dick to someday take the mantle of nightwing. but when nightwing is found missing, dick's protege in training has no choice but to start his nightwing career early. the two are almost equal partners in skills, but terry has just the slightest advantage cuz he's been batman professionally for awhile now.

so the two team-up to find nightwing, who had been kidnapped by an aging two-face and his thugs. we find out two-face no longer has two, or three split personalities, but four split personalities. and all this time, his personalities have been conflicting w/ each other because batman always defeated him. twoface's personalities, all four, come together, which causes twoface to go into a catatonic state for many years, until recently, where we learn his personalities for all these years have been trying to figure out who batman was. and finally they figure out it's bruce wayne. but twoface being in a catatonic state for so many years has no idea of the new batman, terry. so he devises a plan to capture bruce/batman by kidnapping dick.

the finale of this twopart show, has terry and the new nightwing finding twofaces new hideout, and battles all the usual thugs, but this time unique thugs that give them a run for their money. the big surprise of this ending is when they finally confront twoface. who, using the same technology that recreated mr. freeze's body, has created 4 separate bodies which each body houses each separate personality. and how this ends is easy... the 4 twofaces overwhelm the duo. and right when they're all gonna finally kill both of them, one of the twofaces takes out the other 3, realizing that what he's doing is wrong. and that one twoface is the one and only harvey dent. the good harvey dent, before all his split personalities began.

sorry, i just started typing and couldnt stop. got carried away i guess. i hope you guys like this idea that i made up on the spot. wow, it actually sounds plausible. somebody call dini. HAHAHA. did the ending make sense?

i always viewed terry as "robin beyond". imo bruce is still batman, he's just not wearing the suit. terry/robin is just doing the fighting for him. don't get me wrong, i still like terry and the show, but that was the way that i always saw it.

btw, disneyboy and holyholy, both of your stories were pretty cool and would have been great endings to the show.

My take on the show is that Terry started out as a "Robin" and grew into a "Batman" by ROTJ.

I think Robin character for Batman Beyond might have been somebody from different world or country. I think Terry needed badly some male friends. He was around females too much.

If Robin Beyond was ever to exist. He/She were forced to be Robin not knowing anything about Batman.

you know I could have sworn the way they are writing Batman Beyond they are setting Max up to take on the role as Batgirl. she seems to be building up to that.

Besides Matt is like 6 years old. In my opinion he is just to young to be Robin. If something happens to Terry, his mom can't afford to loose Matt too.

i dont think max was being set up to be the next batgirl. she seemed to be more set up to be oracle. the other, other batgirl. hehe :D
