what happend to hal jordan?

i'm not a fan of green lantern and i havent been in touch of the current dc universe, but hal jordan is my fav green lantern. i'm not that out of touch though, i know of kyle rayner, john stewart, and guy gardner. so any way i'm fliping through the new issue of batgirl and i see an ad for green lantern legacy. whoa hold up. i thought. some thing happend to hal jordan? any way what happend to hal jordan?

It all started in the "Reign of the Supermen" storyline right after Doomsday killed Superman. An alien named Mongul teamed with the cyborg Superman and destroyed Coast City and all 7 million people. After Hal helped the original Superman to defeat the cyborg and Mongal, he returned to Coast City and re-created it with his ring...but the ring lost power and Hal went nuts...threatened the Guardians and demanded more power...they refused so he went straight to the main power battery on OA to take all the power and ressurect Coast City. On his path to OA, he was confronted by and killed all the Green Lantern Corps...including Sinestro. Then he detroyed OA, killed all the guardians (except Ganthet) and became PARALLAX.

As PARALLAX, Hal tried to recreate the universe in his own perfect image where nothing was wrong...this was the ZERO HOUR Storyline where Ollie (Green Arrow) shot Hal through the heart with his arrow at the end.

During the FINAL NIGHT, Hal, to redeem his soul and make up for all the wrong he did, decided to sacrifice himself to save earth and with his power, threw hismelf into the sun to reignite its flames and save the world. Right before he did this, Hal decided to bring his best friend back to life (Ollie was killed in a plane crash) See current reincarnation of the Green Arrow by Kevin Smith for a total recap of all this...highly recommended.

Anyway, Hal / Parallax died, and when Jim Corrigan (who was the previous Spectre) went to heaven, the door was open to bring Hal back into the DCU...and During the "Day of Judgement" mini series, Hal Jordan was brought back as the new Sprectre. He currently has his own monthly comic!

Ya think I'm a Hal Jordan Fan??? Can't wait for the Last Will and Testament!
