On page 37 there is a story called "Elmer Fudd and Daffy." I was wondering if anyone might know when that particular design for Daffy was introduced to the comics and how long it was used? I really liked that design, it's not my most favorite of the character, but it's the only one in the whole book that actually looks "right."

It reminds me of McKimson's late 40s/early 50s designs in some panels, and Art Davis' design in others.

What's really funny to me is that the story is about him thinking he is an "ugly duckling."

Edited to add this picture, I scanned it in just in case no one who can answer my question has the Comics Celebration book. It was drawn by Phil deLara:

Apparently a few of Robert McKimson's relatives, including his brother Tom, worked as both animators and comic book artists, and Phil DeLara, too, worked for McKimson's unit. Either one of them could've introduced it, but you're right, McKimson's influence is there. I've seen several comic books from the late 50's that use that design, they liked and stuck with it after that point. In fact, even after Chuck Jones added his spin to the character, the comics stuck with this McKimson version.

Yay, that's a start, so it's from the late 50s! Now all we need to figure out is when they started using it and when they stopped using it (and why they don't use it anymore :p ).

DeLara adapted the same style to his mid-50's Donald Duck comic work. He also drew the nephew's heads like light bulbs. If I had a scanner I'd show you what it looks like.
