Toon Zone News reported (http://forums.toonzone.net/showthread.php?s=&threadid=9912) that production had ceased on "SpongeBob Squarepants" back in October. Now, The L.A. Times (http://www.latimes.com/) has confirmed that the series is indeed ending.
Steve Hillenburg, the creator, executive producer and head writer of the hit "SpongeBob Squarepants" cartoon series, told the L.A. Times Friday that he will not renew his contract with Nickelodeon to make more episodes. When he finishes with the current set of 20 segments, he will have completed 60 shows. "I definitely need a break," Hillenburg, 40, told The Times. "I want to try something new."
