Hello, I'm back!

For those who don't know me, I was around for the earlier incarnations of this forum, back in the day, when it was hosted on I think InsideTheWeb. Nice to see the discussions are still ongoing.

I'm pleased to meet you all, especially Dick Grayson and all the fellow Canucks out there.

Any Batman Beyond fans who also enjoy watching the show 'The Invisible Man'? I say this because Shannon Kenny's in it (Inque, are you paying attention to this?) and it makes a change from watching the Inque episodes every so often. It's interesting to see her play a good guy. That woman is one talented Australian.

'What bugs me is that I'm stuck here while you two are running around doing your pathetic Batman and Robin imitation.' -- The Keeper (Shannon Kenny)

I've heard about the show, but the problem is that the show airs on Sci-Fi Channel, which is on cable. Poor me, I still don't have cable. I hear her voice on Max Steel because she plays Rachel. I've only seen her in live-action once in the episode of Seinfeld called "The Susie".....the one where Kramer hates daylight savings time, george's date allison (shannon kenny), and where everybody says susie to elaine.

Inque:

The irony for me is, I don't get Sci-Fi Channel
either. I just get basic cable, and 'I-Man' shows
on a CBS affiliate station out of Buffalo on Saturdays. Depending on where you live, you might want to see if you have any local channels that might carry it.

With no coverage on YTV or Global presently, I haven't seen 'Batman Beyond' for a long time on television. My main source is taped episodes (and the FTP downloads of 'Inqueling' and 'The Call' I have). YTV can't start rebroadcasting soon enough for me. I need VHS copies.

But, like you, Inque is my favourite character. Great voice -- her lack of emotion and businesslike delivery is rather unusual for a female villain, she's cunninng beyond belief, and she's the ONLY baddie on the show who's ever rendered Terry completely and totally helpless more than once (not to mention made him scream). Let's be honest -- barring outside interference, she can take Terry any time she feels like it. And does.

Personally, I think she's the only enemy Terry is totally and completely scared of. What do you want to bet he had nightmares after the Batcave incident in 'Black Out'? I touched on this several times in fanfics I wrote.

And on a related note, this is another, somewhat personal reason why Inque appeals to me.

'As a young girl, Deanna, like most children believed monsters lurked in the dark, wherever the parents were not looking. Behind doors, under beds, nestled among clothes in closets. Like most parents, her guardians had done their best to humour her. Came running to her screams, switched on all available lights, made a great show of looking beneath the bed, in the closet, pushing aside clothes to show plain, blank, walls, then firmly reshutting the doors and bidding her goodnight.
This room -- her room -- had no closets.
Clad in her nightgown, she now moved forward, pulled aside the covers of her bed, bent and shone a powerful flashlight beneath it. Nothing. Nothing at all. She ran a hand in the small crevice that was still covered by the bedclothes, prepared to jerk her hand away at the first sign of dampness. Cold sheets could be a problem at times. Nothing.
Her guardians had been stupid. Monsters were clearly more intelligent. Their vanishing in the presence of light confirmed this. She'd forgot her primitive instincts like all adults, coming to believe that night, that darkness, held nothing that could be terrifying or dangerous. Growing older, this was modified. Darkness could hold terrifying things, but they were solid, flesh and blood. They existed. Were human.
Her guardians had never seen darkness flow through a closed window, take shape in front of them. Speak to them. Hold them. They did not know a reflection in a darkened mirror can be more truthful than one in light.
Deanna swallowed the water hurriedly, taking care not to choke or spill, then laid the empty glass by the bedside. Simmons would come in the brightness of day, and collect it when she awoke to the world again.
Deanna reached down, grabbed the thick duvet, pulled it up until it covered her head. She brought her knees to her chest, held them with her hands, and tucked her chin into them. Curling like a foetus, feeling the tablets's warmth spread through her, she tried to be calm. She thought of a Scots prayer her guardians had taught to her.

From ghoulies and ghosties,
And long-leggedy beasties,
And things that go bump in the night,
Good Lord deliver us!

The prayer was wrong. Things did not go bump in the night. They *dripped*. They *slithered*. They *oozed*. Their names were not bogey, or ghost, or goblin.
Deanna knew the name of the thing under her bed.
She called it Mother.'

Flying Grayson:

First, if you somehow ended up seeing this (I don't know your location, air times, channel, etc) I apologise for repeating information you might already know.

Last week, Claire brought Kevin Fawkes back to life in Darien's body using RNA. If you've seen the episode 'The Other Invisible Man', the principle was the same as what happened to Darien with Simon Cole's personality (Kevin takes over when Darien falls asleep). The idea was Darien would then use big brother to get the gland out of his head. Unfortunately, the RNA sample used was from BEFORE Kev was involved in the I-Man project.

However, I did find out that 1) Claire and Kevin were at graduate school together (turns out Darien's tattoo is based on a doodle Claire did on all her course packs), and 2) they DATED for a year -- talk about a meeting of the minds. (Which explains MUCH about the whole Claire/Darien dynamic, I think. Good thing Darien isn't aware of when Kev took over his body -- he might resent it.)

Oh, and Arnaud de Fehrn found out, and tried to get Kev to repair HIS gland as well. Watching him smack Darien/Kevin unconscious with a copy of 'Philosophy's Greatest Hits' is just TOO funny.

I'll just conclude by saying the gland is still there (Kevin essentially committed suicide at the end. Seeing all the good his ne'er do-well brother had done with the gland, he felt he should keep things that way.) A good episode.

Hope it's what you want.

'I can't do this.'

-- Claire,interrupting a game of kissy-face with Kevin in Darien's body.

'Why is the weather ALWAYS like this when someone decides to screw with the boundaries of science?'

-- Darien, commenting on the huge thunderstorm during the RNA experiement

Oh, I thought the Inque thing on Invisible Man was common knowledge already. She's as good lookin as her animated counterpart. Didn't know she was Australian though. Couldn't place the accent, but that's just me. Inque sure knows how to pick the best shows/projects. Never saw her on Seinfeld though, but I don't watch that show really.
