Adam,
Thanks for posting the link. I'm not sure what is more disappointing to me--the fact that it is being released yet *not* in widescreen, or the fact that "Secret Origins" is the only episode on the disc. I didn't know that originally (so the reviewer states) more than one episode was to be included on the 60 min. disc. An interesting review nevertheless. :)

No problem! I just stumbled upon a couple more:
IGN (http://dvd.ign.com/articles/356/356982p1.html)
The Cinema Laser (http://www.thecinemalaser.com/dvd_review_2002/justice-league-dvd.htm)

There's another review for it at www.animationondvd.com. Check it out:

I am dissapointed as well. Samurai Jack had an extra episode and some featuettes. Batman Beyond's movie DVD had an extra four episodes. This is extremely bare bones. Ah well...I'll still be picking it up...

No widescreen format? No decent extras? No additional episodes? Since I didn't like the episode in the first place, I am now cetain I won't buy the DVD. Besides, 4 DVDs are expensive enough!

widescreen was the LEAST they could have done for us

I'll wait until they get it right and release a widescreen edition. For $20, that's a rip-off.

Pick up Justice League, "Secret Origins" anyway on DVD... please? :(
I can see how the Justice League DVDs are going to be released: all the three-parters on a DVD by themselves, and the two-parters will be grouped in twos on DVD releases. It makes sense to me, at least!
Now, I do wish there had been more extras on the DVD, but I don't mind it not being in widescreen format, though having the option to choose between the two would have been nice.
So why pick it up anyway?
Reasons to buy Justice League, "Secret Origins" on DVD
-----------------------------------------------------------------------
1. Regardless of formatting complaints, DVD is a permanant storage media. The average life of a VHS tape is 10-20 years (if you take good care of it!), so the VHS tape(s) your Justice League episodes are on will eventually deteriorate. With DVD, you can have your favoite movies, TV show episodes, etc. in storage forever! (Assuming you take care of your DVDs, of course.)
2. If Justice League, "Secret Origins" doesn't sell well, Warner Bros. will not be likely to release more Justice League DVDs in the future. And I don't need to tell you that that's bad news. :(
3. OK, so let's say they release this so-so DVD of "Secret Origins" now, then release an awesome DVD of it later. What to do? I suggest you then buy the new, awesome DVD version of it for yourself when that day comes, and pass on the so-so DVD as a gift to family/friends/strangers/any person that shows interest in The Dini/Timm DC Universe but still hasn't quite gotten into it yet, in order to get the word out, and help the audience for Justice League grow.
And I practice what I preach: when I reserved my copy of Batman Beyond: Return of the Joker UNCUT on DVD, I gave my cut version on DVD to a friend of mine that wasn't yet familiar with The Dini/Timm DC Universe, but had heard of it. Now he's a newly hooked fan, and watches all four TV shows! :D
Heck, if nothing else, buy a copy of the DVD and give it directly to someone else as a gift. Please? :)

BTW, the current word floating around is that Best Buy will carry Justice League for $14.99. Nothing on the other animated titles, though.
