I understand the history (mostly) of the AAP-titled cartoons and how they got back together with the other WB cartoons. Now that the family has been reunited, so to speak, why isn't that annoying AAP intro dropped?

It pretty much has been -- all of the pre-1948 "dubbed" Warner Bros. cartoons had their AAP logos removed, as did the Popeye cartoons when Turner made new prints of those in the mid-1990s. Any AAP logos you still see are from undubbed cartoons that the Turner people got from the MGM/UA Vidde-Oh! series of cartoons (or from other sources) around 1987.

The Warner Bros. AAP openings never really bothered me that much -- except for three cartoons ("Hamateur Night" "Bars and Stripes Forever" and "Conrad the Sailor") the original WB shield opening was never cut out and replaced with the AAP opening, as was the case with the 1933-55 Popeyes, which made the AAP titles (opening and closing) far more irritating on those cartoons.

The aap logo is a rarity in England. I think the only time I've seen it is at the start of 'House Hunting Mice'. Things like 'A Star Is Hatched' 'Daffy Duck In Hollywood' and 'Hollywood Steps Out' they have it removed. We do however get original titles for 'Rhapsody Rabbit' 'Sniffles and The Bookworm' and 'Conrad The Sailor' minus aap logo.

Yeah, and "Porky's Pig Feat." I don't understand why they remove the opening titles for those cartoons or why the leave some pre1948's undubbed.

OK. Here we go again wit hthe 'dubbed' thing... :-)

What does it matter if some are left undubbed if all that means is that it is not dubbed in another language for foreign audiences?

You get the original titles to "Sniffles and the Bookworm"? Wow, what do they look like- if you could make a cap, I'm sure all the other members of the TTTP including myself would love to see what they look like-

Here, those cartoons do not have title sequesnces, just the title cards. "Porky Pig's feat" is that way because it's the only way CN recieved it. The original two or three airings of this cartoon actually had the credits from an old syndicated "merrie Melodies" TV show, they were removed afterwards.

There are still about a dozen of these pre-1948 WB color cartoons that have the A.A.P. logo as seen on Cartoon Network, while there have been about 260 (more or less) "dubbed versions" that exist without them as such. However, if a viewer could listen at the top of the upgraded "One Meat Brawl" (1947, McKimson) and "Of Foxes and Hounds" (1940, Avery), you could hear a trace of the musical sequeway intro from the A.A.P. logo that used to be seen.

I too never had a real problem with the A.A.P. logo intro in many of this batch of WB cartoons, except in those three titles mentioned in J Lee's post plus "The Bear's Tale" (1940, Avery) which had now its W-B logo revived but still for the Blue Ribbon format. Besides, once I have seen that trademark on the screen, I knew automatically that I was going to watch a pre-1948 WB cartoon anyhow.

By the way, the A.A.P. logo intro approximately lasts about only twelve seconds on the screen as such. The last cartoon I had seen played with that legendary icon was "The Hare-Brained Hypnotist" (1942, Freleng) on the 11:00pm (Eastern) showing of "Bugs & Daffy" on Tuesday, April 9.

For the most part, I don't find the aap logo as annoying as the "dubbed version" end card. I agree that the Popeye version was worse.

Here we are. I've removed the Boomerang logo and included the title card that you usually see in America so you can compare. Judging by the coloring of the rings it was reissued in the 1951-1952 season, and was Blue Ribbon #1251.

This cartoon is currently the only one I have on tape but If they come up I might post pictures of the other ones.

The full original titles to "Porky Pig's Feat" do exist. They show production number 11-13 on grey rings (well, duh).

WB or CN or someone has pretty much butchered the post-1941 Looney Tunes. Most of them have wrong theme music or other problems on the titles.
