I'd have to say that Evoultuon has the best animation, but the early 90's series I think really helped establish the X-men for who they where. I mean when I think of the X-men I imagine them having the voices of the early 90's show.
Evo's got the best animation. In TAS, the animation was somewhat poor in some sections. I also like the look of the characters more in Evo than I did in TAS.

Although I hate X-Men: Evolution, I must admit that it does have the better animation. The early 90s X-Men series has the better story, its animation was good too, very similar to the comics though.
What is the third X-Men series? I've never heard of or seen it.

Same here. Also--and this is what bugs me about Evolution the most--the female characters weren't all obnoxious. On Evol, they mostly have one personality, and it's the most annoying girl in high school imaginable. On TAS, they had their own personalities, taken from the comics and fleshed out accordingly.

Don't quote me on this, but I've heard it was an unsold pilot for an earlier X-Men series, with this particular ep being Kitty's introduction to the X-Men. I've never seen it, but I want to, if only because one of my great fictional role models (Emma Frost) plays a major part.

I liked the old X-men: TAS, but it wasn't the best animation-wise... I like the new X-men: Evolution, and animation-wise it's definitely well done -- so that's what I picked.

I just wish that X-men:Evolution wasn't teen oriented, I wish is was more like X-men:TAS.

The 90s X-Men had the best look, although the animation was variable. Evol has the best anime, but is often a little too cartoony for my liking!

it was an unsold pilot that aired in 89 on the sindicated marvel action univese series, which featured other cartoons like robocop, dino riders, and spiderman and his amazing friends
the animation in pryde of the x-men was similar to but a lot better then the animation in the original G.I. JOE cartoon, which was a heck of lot bette then the 90's x-men cartoon on fox, the background and character designs were also a lot better then x-men TAS
you can probaly find a copy of the pilot on ebay or at comic/sci-fi conventions or even in video or comic book stores
I'm pretty sure that once you see it you will think that both the look and animation on that pilot are far superior to that of the 90's series

I'm split on the best animation style. I picked Evolution.
The 90's animated had some good styles and some not good ones. For example, Season 1 was too bubbly (the characters' movement was too slow and bouncy to me), Season 2 had better lighting but still had some bubbly movement, Season 3 was the same as Season 2, with the exception of the Wolverine/Deathstrike story. That was done by a different animation studio, somewhere in the Phillipines. I really liked the animation of that episode.
Season 4 I think had the best animation, it was like Season 1 and 2 and 3, but much cleaner. (not to mention that Sanctuary, Proteus, and One Man's Worth were some of the best episodes). And the tail end of Season 5 was okay...
But Evolution just looks cool.

I agree with you. "X-Men Evolution" could be A great series if it weren't so teen oriented. The animation, and designs would make Bruce Timm blush, and it puts the animation of the earlier series to shame. I'll admit the earlier show may not have had the best animation in the world, but the stories did have some potential. I also like that "Pryde of The X-Men" pilot. It was A bit lite hearted, but it had A good anime style look to it . I have A question. "Pryde Of The X-Men" was produced by Marvel Productions, (founded by Marvel Comics, and was formally the Depate-Freeling studio.) and Toei Animation. They also worked with Sunbow Productions, and produced "Transformers", and "G.I. Joe". (It had most of the cast from both shows on board.) As well as "Spider-Man & His Amazing Friends", and The "Incredible Hulk" cartoon from the 80's. What happened to it? Did it file for chapter 11? I know that Toei Animation is still around, and has produced "Sailor Moon", and "New Cutey Honey".

It was probably a joint partnership - somehow involved with rights to the characters knowing good ol Marvel. Marvel Films eventually went bankrupt about four years ago and was forced to end two series - one of these the very promising Silver Surfer the other being the okay Avengers. As for Pryde of the X-Men check out your nearest Big Lots - that's where I got my copy for about a $1.00 they also had Cap, Namor and some others. "Pryde" was supposed to actually be a pilot for CBS but they decided to pass and that eventually lead to the far superior X-Men series on Fox. While the animation was bad on some eps for the most part it was pretty good and I didn't have to listen to the Australian Wolverine that was voiced in "Pryde".
Overall tho, X-Men Evolution has the best look/animation out of all of them. Magneto looks awesome in his dark treads and the remakes of Sabretooth, Mystique and even Wolvie to the more movie-ized versions works really well here. Evo has also produced some episodes that weren't as kiddie as everyone thinks and has overall been a very entertaining series.

Season 1 of Evo was pretty bad. Every episode closed with lines that made you cringe, saying things like "we wouldn't leave you alone. we're always here for you. because we're x-men." But the animation was great.
Season 2 of Evo has had much better writing, with the still great animation, making it one of the best cartoons this season. I've been loving most every episode, especially the Angel one and the Captain America one (this was done even better than I thought it would be) I've also liked the continuity going through the series. The fact that, episodes later, Kurt was still serving his punishment, that there are little elements that make watching the entire season worthwile, and it seems as if they're building up to an action-packed season ender.
I like this series way more than I thought I ever would.

X-Men: Evolution definely has best animation I also think it is the best X-Men cartoon. My favorite episode is "On Angel Wings".
