I don't know if this was discussed already, but when I turned the page to 52 there it was. A Batman Year 1 movie poster advertisement. My jaw dropped. Here's the info if you guys haven't seen it yet.

Expected release date: 12/25/02
Written and directed by: Darren Aronofsky
Produced by: Lorenzo Dibonaventura and Eric Watson
Music by: Danny Elfman

It looks like Wes Bentley is playing the young Bruce Wayne. There's also a name next to his, Viggo Mortenson, who I can only assume is playing Batman... but I don't know that for sure.

The picture is sort of Star Wars inspired with the whole picture shown as a painting. In the center is Bentley's stern looking face, beneath him is the picture of Thomas and Martha Wayne bleeding on the floor (identical to Frank Miller's cover of B:Y1, 1 of 1), in the back ground there is a shrowded Bat symbol (not the kind from Burton's films, but of the Year 1 symbol) that engulfs the whole page. On Bentley's face, if you look closely, you can make out the outlines of the cowl.

It's a pretty cool looking promo and I think a lot of you guys will like it. Again, it's in the newest issue of Wizard if you guys wanna check it out.

Wow!
Any chance this is on-line somewhere?

Otherwise can someone tell me what type of mag Wizard is (sorry never heard of it :o ) and where I might be able to get one.

Isn't that the April 1st issue of Wizard?

You can pick up Wizard at any store that sells a wide variety of magazines. I've found Wizard at grocery stores and newstands. Even your local comic shop would carry these magazines. The magazine is primarily a comics magazine that covers toys, cartoons, price guides, news, etc.

On the cover near the barcode it says, May 2002 #128. I'm not sure if it's the latest Wizard out, but it's the newest one I've seen. There are two different covers. One has Spiderman on the cover and the other has a Simpson's cover.

sweet. Viggo Mortenson *really hot* is the guy who played Aragorn *really hot* in Lord of The Rings. He's a great actor, with a great face. Handsome, dark, gritty....and as I've said before, really hot...but that's just me. Anyhoo, if it's not some ploy or April Fools thing, especially if it says May on it, then that is very very cool.

Hoepfully it's not a joke, Wes Bently as Batman would rock. I remember Wizard did a movie poster parody a long time ago when the Spider-Man movie was stuck in limbo. It was "directed" by James Cameron, and stared Leonardo DiCaprio as Spidey, and Nikki Cox as Mary Jane (god help us all)

Uh oh... Underneath the release date, it does say "parody" in small printed letters. The picture is one full page and no where around it does it say it's not authentic. I looked throughout the magazine to see if it wasn't authentic, but from what I've seen, it looks pretty good. It looks like "movie poster quality." Well, check it out for yourself. I'm gonna cut it out and hang it on my wall. If it turns out it's not real.... then sorry for the run-around. But hey, it looked good to me.

Sandoz, that old Spidy parody, was it made in the same way? Did it look like a serious promo or did they point out it wasn't real by making fun of Spiderman? BTW, how long ago was that parody made?

Parody's work for me. Even if we aren't getting it, the poster idea is pretty awesome, keeps the hyper up and all. I'll go and try and pick up a copy just to cut out the poster because it sounds like it looks pretty cool.

I just saw the Spider-Man poster in some sort of anniversary issue of Wizard. At the bottom, it also said "PARODY," as well as the word "NOT" in small print before the large words "COMING TO A THEATER NEAR YOU." I guarantee the Year One poster is also fake, as they haven't even cast any roles yet. Plus, they're not even close to filming, which means a Christmas 2002 release date would be impossible.

The Spider-Man poster did the same thing as this Year One poster; it fed off rumors. In 1993, James Cameron was indeed attached to the Spider-Man movie (there were even promotional key chains), and he has mentioned in the past that he would've liked to cast Leonardo DiCaprio.

lol, who me? No, I don't think I said anything like that. Viggo hot? Are you kidding Oranthal? man, you must be in lala land or something. Anyhoo, seriously, now that I think about it, Viggo could be pretty awesome in a Batman movie. Thoughts?

i never had an original thought in my life; i just rehash what i hear and what is told to me, but Viggo seems like a very good choice. i have seen him in some interviews and he doesn't really seem "animated" which means that he could get bruce's brood down pat.

yeah I picked that up today and my eyes immediately zoomed in on the parody.

You must feel so embarrassed.:D

No offense. Ha ha aha haaa haaaa, *choke*, cough cough cough!

Although Wes would make an ungodly hot choice for Bruce Wayne on Smallville, but a girl can only dream....

You answered your own question, but I'm curious you said it has parody written on it, but youre still looking to make sure its real???? I know it looks "movie poster quality" but thats all photochopped.

Besides Wizard always make something fake for their April issue.

Still pretty sweet though.

LoL... who's embarresed. :p At least we have a cool promo to have in the meantime, even if it is fake. You have to admit, it is pretty eye catching. Imagine when it's the real thing? I'm sure we'll all jump for joy.
