I read some manga too. I enjoy Tezuka and Matsumoto's work, and Buichi Terasawa. Plus, those big mecha robots are too darn cool.

I've read the first to "Nausicaa of the Valley of the Wind' Mangas, the first Dragonball, and the first Ranma½. I would read more, but the bookstores are expensive, selling mangas for up to $20 a book. Soon as I find a cheap online distributer, I'll probably start reading them a lot more.

I read the new Archie and Richie Rich mangas. They rock!

Issue #5 is great, where Archie and Jughead have to face the Lodges, so they merge into ultimate form super go-go action robot spaceman. Then they use the super genki dama (x10). That was schweet!

The first manga I've collected was Ranma 1/2 which was about 7 years ago. I started to collect Graphic Novels vol. 3-7 but then I got interested in another series which still today is my favorite series. That is Oh! My Goddess!. :)

Over the years I collected many more manga in graphic novel form, since it's cheaper and worth the wait. My favorites other than OMG are Sorceror Hunters, Nasicaa of the Valley of the Wind, and Inu-Yasha:A Feudal Fairy Tale.

x-men? just curious Manga is the general term for Japanese comic-books, although the word comic-book is still sometimes used in Japan. In reply to your second question, while X-Men and Spider-Man sometimes have manga like attributes or inside jokes, they are not considered manga for a few reasons:

1: Manga are comics written and drawn, and published in Japan. X-Men and spidey are not written or drawn, but are probably published in Japan.

2: Manga stories and/or characters are creator owned, meaning that the creator of that character or series has all says in how that character is used. They also recieve credit and all royalties for the use of their properties. (With the exception of Gundam and a few other series, which are owned by BANDAI, Capcom, SNK, etc.) Most creators in the U.S. get some of these priveleges, but not many, as publishers can usually do what they feel like doing with a certain property.

I read the occasional manga. There are a lot of bad ones out there, but my faves have been:

Adolf
Lone Wolf and Cub

I'm mostly just reading the manga mini-series for Gundam Wing like Episode Zero, Battlefield for Pacifists, and Blind Target. I'm thinking about buying other series, but I don't know which ones, yet. :dot: I don't know.

I've read all 18 volumes of the "Bishoujo Senshi Sailor Moon" manga. She rocks! The Sailor Manga is wwwaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaayyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy better than that stinky, chauvanistic anime sailor moon anime.

Personally, I collect:

-Ranma 1/2 (English, Rumiko Takahashi): Since I was already a fan of Takahashi's Urusei Yatsura, and because it was tough to find the video version of Ranma when I first got into anime for rental, I decided to read the manga instead. While I have seen 3 seasons of the show, I own 12-13 volumes of the manga and don't plan to stop anytime soon.

-GS Mikami: Gokuraku Daisakusen (Ghost Sweeper Mikami: The Paradise Operation) (Japanese, Takashi Shiina): A long, long time ago (OK, it was 1997), I got a sampler tape from an anime club filled with many different openings that introduced me to many different anime that I would either encounter or would come out in America. (including Magic Knights Rayearth, Fuushigi Yuugi, Escaflowne, Pokemon, Gundam Wing, G Gundam, Sorcerer Hunters, Yu Yu Hakusho, Ruroni Kenshin, and many, many others) One of the anime intros on the tape, which consequently has not come out in America yet (although the movie will soon) was a supernatural comedy called GS Mikami. I wanted to see this anime, but I never really got it from the club and it never came to America. So in 1999, when I made my first ever trip to the Japanese bookstore Kinokuniya, I was able to find vol. 1 of the manga. And boy was it a ton of fun! Several years later, I own 15 volumes of the series (out of 39), but so far I am only up to volume 4 reading it! (since I usually read one chapter a week in Japanese) But one of the biggest troubles is that now it is practically impossible to get it in this country! (which means I either have to order it directly from Japan or from a bookstore in Cambridge, MA) I say if you like Takahashi and/or the supernatural, give this one a try.

-One Piece (Japanese, Eiichiro Oda): I heard about this one through the anime which I did not know I would ever see in this country, and I own three volumes of it. It is a tough read considering how many kanji are in it (I haven't even gotten through the first chapter of Vol. 1!), but it is worth it because it looks like a cool pirate adventure.

Other than these main three, I also own one huge English volume of Urusei Yatsura, a volume of Evangelion in English (when I thought I would never see the anime at one time), and a Japanese volume of Hell Teacher Nube.
