And so it begins with the arc posing as the entire homage to their first comic adventure vs. Loki.

This is the middle of the three-part Season One finale, and getting here has been an extraordinary journey!
In other notes:
* This episode introduces many new characters and places, although some will be recognizable from other episodes like "Casket of Ancient Winters", which details the Svart Alfar and the death of their Realm.
* Sif leading the Valkeyries makes sense as the Goddess of Battle, and Defender fans will recognize Valkyrie immediately - but who is the other one with the red hair?
* Faradai seems to be a new character, without any analogue in the MU616.
* If viewers are confused about the Realms of Asgard, I have put what canonical information I can find in the listing for Asgard over on my AEMH site.
* Eitri is a figure from Norse mythology, who, along with his brother, did make Mjolnir for Thor, at the behest of Loki himself.

Love how Loki played all of them and no one figured it out, not sure how he escaped the quiet island thing but hey i am no asgardian wizard so i am sure he found a loophole

Not sure who the redhead is, but I'm thrilled that we got to see Valkyrie!
Hopefully we'll get to hear her speak (or yell) in the next episode. :D

Valkyrie is also on the microhero thread (http://www.toonzone.net/forums/showthread.php?t=282593&page=2) (unfortunately, adding her to my last entry, as the mods here forbid serial posts, doesn't bump the topic and let people know there is new stuff).

...This show really loves using Frost Giants!
As amusing as Hawkeye was, and as much as I was expecting Hulk to hold up his weapon and shout "By this axe I rule!", I think the defining moment of the episode was Cap in the world of the dead. Him demanding to know why Bucky wasn't there...That just seemed like a very unique (and emotionally powerful) way to rekindle a hero's resolve. The fact that Bucky's absense will lead to its own story later on...that's just icing!

Well, it does confirm that whatever the Cosmic Cube did, it did it without Cap's conscious knowledge - I mean, we kinda knew that already, but he could have just been equivocating.
I don't think those were the actual spirits of the Howlers - more like Hela trying to trick CA into giving up voluntarily. While Marvel has always been kinda hedge-y as to what happens to people after death, I don't think Hela had any right (as Rogers isn't a Norse pantheon worshipper) to his spirit any other way.
Hela, btw, is on my micro list if I can manage a good reference shot (fortunately, she and Valkyrie are close enough to the "classic" that, like I did with Valkyrie, I can fake it with comic references as needed).

That does raise some theological issues.... But if the spirits shown were fakes, then why not fake Bucky? Is there some supernatural rule that she can only fake the spirits of those who are actually dead? That seems kind of arbitrary unless she actually does have some hold on those that are dead...

And another exciting episode. You can just feel that the show is in the climax. All the heroes are getting their own fight, Hank Pym actually stopped being emo for a bit, and Loki tells the viewers why he pawns everyone. Good stuff.
Also, loved Iron Man's scenes. He is cool.
As for Odin...do the villains always have to take advantage of his Odin Sleep thing? He really needs to find a way NOT to sleep.

...and Loki tells the viewers why he pawns everyone.
...and according to Josh Fine, all the things Loki bragged about were not the total of things he's put into motion!

Except if that was the case, Hela would have faked Bucky too. They probably were the real commandos, they probably didn't know Cap wasn't dead.
Wow, this was a great one. Interesting to see the Avengers thrown to all the different realms.
Pseudo-armorless Iron Man vs Ulik was an interesting matchup. Nice to see Tony using his wits. Hawkeye bumping into a fellow archer was pretty well done. The big surprise was Black Panther. I wouldn't have guessed he'd be the one to discover a portal between realms. The Cap one was pretty interesting. I wouldn't be surprised if Hela just sends him away since he doesn't belong there. How awesome would it be if next episode began or ended with Hulk and Volstagg sitting down at a banquet table together?

Pretty good episode. The team is divided once again, looking forward to them reunite. Really like Loki. The guy who voices him is fantastic. It was also cool to see Iron Man fight without most of his armour, as well as him willing to kill himself to defeat that ogre.
Did the elf that was helping Hawkeye, and the dwarf that built mjolnir remind anyone of Legolas and the the other dwarf from Lord of the Rings?

Gimli. And yeah, I got a strong LOTR vibe from those two too.
Fighting Ulik was sort of similar to fighting the cave troll in Moria. A little.
Fortunately the episode also had the Black Panther/Hela/Frost Giants/etc/etc stories, so it was much more than just a LOTR copy.

Great episode.
Anyone else think that Tony's skin suit looks a lot like the suits from TRON: LEGACY? ;)

The big surprise was Black Panther. I wouldn't have guessed he'd be the one to discover a portal between realms.
It makes sense to me. After Thor, Panther seems to have the best understanding of Magic and Mysticism (remember who advised Tony and Thor on how to stop Malekith). Plus he already knew how to search for mystical energy, so his suit probably helped him do it.
Yeah this ep rocked.
But I've seen the future friends, and this is only the beginning.
Well actually, it's the middle, but you get my drift.

Yeah, my banner for this Sunday's episode (after a re-broadcast of Part one and two) is too big to post here, but:

Following the destruction of the magical Norn Stones at the end of the previous episode, the Avengers wake up each in a different location, one of the nine realms of Asgard. Trying to figure out what happened and how to return home, they encounter other mythical Asgardian characters, while also being hunted down by Loki's forces. Except for Thor and Wasp, everybody else got a chance to shine this episode, fighting frost giants, wolves, trolls and even ghosts was pretty awesome. This episode introduces a lot of new characters, including the Warriors Three, Sif and Valkyrie, though most of them previously had cameos in the beginning of the series, before Thor left Asgard and joined the Avengers. Despite (re)introducing a lot of characters, this episode works great. The way all the characters interact was great, especially the parts featuring Thor and Loki.
As expected, Loki reveals himself to be the mastermind behind pretty much everything that happened on the show so far. From the beginning, his attack on Asgard seen in the episode "Thor the Mighty" was meant to fail; him being exiled to the Isle of Silence was all according to his plan. Once the other Asgardians and especially Thor thought he was out of the way, he returned and set things in motion. While Thor was busy on Midgard (again thanks to Loki, and the Enchantress who had the mission of gathering the Masters of Evil), Loki started conquering Asgard during the Odin Sleep, and soon after the other mystical realms. All, expect for Midgard. Now that Loki has apparently obtained Odin's powers, he is basically unstoppable. I thought it was interesting that we didn't get to see the Enchantress this episode (outside of flashbacks, anyway). Loki mentioned she failed him, but I wonder what exactly her punishment was, or what exactly happened to her. Loki's voice actor (Graham McTavish) was awesome. All the voice acting on this show so far has been great, to say the least. But the villains, as Loki and previously Ultron (and even the Leader) were awesome.
Lots of great moments this episode. Tony without his armor versus Ulik the troll was great. The Hulk still loves the Executioner's axe. It looks like he'll become a good friend of the Warriors Three, especially Volstagg the Voluminous. Black Panther's fight was interesting as well, and I thought it was neat how he discovered a portal between realms and came to help Hawkeye and Faradei the Light Elf defeat the last of the Fenrir Wolves. Ant-Man once again admits he loves Jan (too bad she was unconscious this time). And I liked how we got to see the Casket of Ancient Winters in action again, though I was somewhat disappointed it didn't have a larger role in Loki's plan, after all the trouble they went through to acquire it in the first place (see "The Casket of Ancient Winters"). But my favorite parts are the scenes featuring Captain America in Nifflehein, the Asgardian realm of the dead, where he is haunted by the ghosts of his former teammates from World War II, the Howling Commandos (as seen previously in the episode "Meet Captain America"). Believing he should be dead as well, the ghosts haunt Cap and ask him to join them, and remain there. Cap is just about to quit, when he realizes that, if he really is dead, how come Bucky isn't there as well. He realizes his fight isn't over yet, and rejects the spirits and plans to leave. But before that, he must confront Hela. It will be interesting to see how Cap's voyage to Nifflehein will turn out. Bucky's absence just seems to confirm that the Cosmic Cube did change something (back in the episode "Hail, Hydra!"). We still need more hints, or a climax to this story arc, which I'm sure will come eventually. For now all we can do is keep guessing.
Looks like the season finale is going to be awesome. With the Avengers slowly regrouping and joining forces with other Asgardians to defeat Loki, who is now an even bigger threat than before, as he has obtained Odin's powers and isn't afraid to use them, this is shaping up to be an epic battle of good versus evil. I am definitely looking forward to the next episode.

This episode was full of suspense, separating the team like that and giving them their own problems was a great way to keep us guessing how they'd get out of it.Hawkeye's was probably the most fun, but I dug Cap's and Tony's. However, I think the real highlight of the episode was Hank's moment with Jan.
Did the elf that was helping Hawkeye, and the dwarf that built mjolnir remind anyone of Legolas and the the other dwarf from Lord of the Rings?
I was thinking Legolas the entire time.
