Joshua Fine has granted me the favor of an interview, covering AEMH and misc. other topics about which we've speculated!

Whatever his other many virtues, the man knows how to spin a story!

A very good interview Medinnus! Very informative and interesting about the unified Marvel Universe. I would have loved to see that come to fruition. Ha! The third season of AEMH, the magic season, please let this happen. I'm a little bummed out that there's still no word on Season 3 yet and it's a little discouraging to find out that most of the original creative team, including Chris Yost, have already moved on to other projects:( I'll still try to be optimistic.

Well that sucks. That doesn't mean there won't be a season 3 though, because he moved on from Iron Man: Armored Adventures and that's still getting a 2nd season. I hope if EMH does get a 3rd season that Yost leaves the show in good hands.

Well, it makes sense. The writing chores for Season Two wrapped... how long ago? And we may not hear about whether or not there will be a season three for months and months... creative staff gotta eat! )

Yeah, I know. At this point, that's the best any of us can hope for is that the series is left in good hands.

Fantastic interview Medinnus. It was great to hear Fine talk about things and why he left. His departure left a lot of questions and you got him to address everything so the questions were fantastic.

I second (and third, fourth, fifth, etc.) everyone when I say this was a fantastic interview!

I really hope we get a third season, and that Taskmaster is introduced at some point. And like Fine, I wouldn't mind seeing more of the Mad Thinker.

But of course, I only want a third season if they find talented and creative people who respect the show and can carry it on properly. If not, I suppose two seasons and 52 episodes really isn't too bad in the grand scheme of things.

The Thinker was recaptured in the LS comic, FYI

Well, nobody tries to find people who aren't talented, creative, and respectful.... heh.

Actually, the first draft of his response so exceeded my expectations that no arm-twisting was required!

I know (same for Batroc, Whiplash and Wendigo). I still would have liked to see more of him though! ;)

Actually, in the comics, the Thinker being in prison usually wasn't too much of a deterrent for him, as he could project his thoughts into android duplicates of himself. Sure, doing so from Prison #42 (or whatever it's called) would be more of a challenge, but maybe he can pull it off!

Getting back to the breakout list: Since we're on the topic of the limited series, a quick headshot of escaped baddies from the show actually showed Batroc the Leaper, which is why he's on your list. Could it be assumed that Machete, Zaran, and the Fixer also were part of the breakout?

Also, in the Ultron-5 episode, Hank says that Cobra was his patient in the Big House, along with other Serpent Society Members. Maybe Anaconda, Bushmaster, Death Adder and/or Rattler were escapees too?

Even after Graviton was captured, there were said to be 74 escapees in total. Even if you include the seven hypotheticals I've named, I don't think all the known fugitives come close to 74. Did Yost or Fine or anyone else have a master list of each and every single escaped super-villain, and will we know them all by episode 52? There are still some guys like Constrictor and Purple Man out there...

It could be assumed, but there is no evidence to support it... not every villain was captured before Breakout, surely!

Same answer. In the absence of evidence... I'd rather err on the conservative side than make assumptions.

I doubt we'll ever see a canonical list, even though I am pretty sure one exists; why limit one's flexibility, if one is part of the writing staff?

I doubt we'll ever see a canonical list, even though I am pretty sure one exists; why limit one's flexibility, if one is part of the writing staff?

Flexibility is a nice thing to have, and I'm sure they wanted to have some surprises; but the fact they had a very specific number (74) as opposed to saying something like "over 50", or "dozens" or something like that certianly whets the curiosity factor. Maybe after the show is over (though hopefully not for at least three seasons), if they ever release any additional behind-the-scenes info, they could include such a canonical list.

I wonder if during season 2, the Avengers will continue to catch breakout escapees, like the aforementioned Constrictor and Purple Man. Some, like Constrictor and the Griffin, they may be able to catch at the beginning of an episode, like Mandrill or Blizzard; others like Purple Man could potentially be big bads of an episode or two. I know it will be the "cosmic" season, which means less of a focus on Earth villians, but still, if you're going to throw the number 74 around, you gotta figure there are obsessive-compulsive fans like me counting...

Okay, so using Medinnus' list, as of episode 25, 24 villians have been recaptured (I've excluded Cobra- I'm pretty sure he got away).

That number can go up to 27, if you count each of the Red Ghosts' Super Apes.

If, purely for grins and giggles, you counted Machete, Zaran, and Fixer, the number goes up to 30. Death Adder makes it 31, if he was captured (we saw Hawkeye pull him back before emerging... whether or not the Avengers nabbed him was kind of ambiguous).

I haven't included the Grey Gargoyle, as his fate is also somewhat ambiguous.

So using the most permissive and flexible standards for counting escapees, the Avengers still have over 40 bad guys to go. Unless my math is off somewhere, which it probably is; or I've made another error, which I probably have.

*chuckles* He says to the guy who made a list... :D
