I just got back from a Final Fantasy Sneek Peek (okay plot, beautiful visuals) and before it was a teaser for the Spider-Man flick next year! It was amazing! I don't know if it's been seen yet, but I hadn't heard about this preview.

Basically, some guys are pulling off a bank robbery, and they're getting away with it. Everything is going off without a hitch, and they even make their getaway in a helicopter. While in the air, they are suddenly jolted to a stop, and yanked backwards for awhile until they're suspended in mid air. It pans out to show them trapped in a giant spider web strung up between the twin towers in New York. It cuts away to something like "Next year..." then shows Spidey look up and begins to swing around the city in some amazing shots. The rest of the preview is just acrobatics and tag lines about May 2002. The theater was on it's feet and cheering like mad, I hadn't even seen this reaction when Star Wars Episode I's preview showed.

I think this one's gonna be good!

So was the movie anygood? :)

I can't wait to see this teaser. I'm gonna try my hardest to see it Wednesday. I actually planned to start a threrad on the teaser trailer Wednesday, thankfully you stepped in! I am pretty excited to see this. If you can't see FF, then ENTERTAINMENT TONIGHT will show the teaser trailer on their Friday show, and the trailer will be online Friday at 11pm (ET).

No need to go watch Final Fantasy then..............er just kidding. I'm curious about it, and I'm really impressed by the visuals. I might go see it next week.

The story lacked severely, it was quite thin, especially in some parts which I can't really devulge until more people see it, or they'll get mad. The visuals were impressive, but I picked out a LOT of problems that were easy to catch, and some that were more from an animation perspective. Things like how Aki's (the brunette girl -- main character) hair stayed in this nice chunk all the time, in perfect condition. With all the attention to detail like moles and pores on the skin, you think they'd TRY to animate her hair.
Also a lot of the time, people had veins in their hands running from the thumb to the pinky when they don't do that. They run from wrist to knuckle, but that's being really picky. It's just some basics you learn in drawing and animation that I guess these people forgot about.

I also found that they need to work on facial expressions and moving the mouth and jaw more. Heck, they do a good job on Toy Story, why not here? I really think they spent a lot of time with attention of detail on the character mapping, and not on the character animation. Still, it was amazing to watch, and it did look 100% lifelike at some points. It's weel worth seeing on the big screen, but I still left thinking that the Spidey preview was the best part. Maybe because this was not the Final Fantasy I remember from Nintendo in the 80's, or maybe because it was a generally thin plot, I don't know. It should do fine at the box office because of the visuals, but if this were a normal animated movie, it'd bomb big time or probably go straight to video. Don't expect any life-revelations to come out of this, it's quite a simple story.

Actually, I just read an entire article about her hair! I haven't seen the movie yet, so I can't say how it turned out. But according to the article, an immense amount of processing power was used to animate her hair! They animated something like 60,000 strands to make it more lifelike! And from what I've seen in the previews, it looked damn good.

I want to see Final Fantasy, but knowing the Spidey trailer is before it will make me have to get to the theater early.

I hear the teaser looks like obvious CGI, especially when showing the web-slinger, but I just wanna see it! I can't wait to see him on the big screen. I hope to see FF within the next week. I'm already seeing JP3 next week, but I'd like to see FF before then. I'll try and get the first day FF grosses tomorrow.

ok, well, I just saw the trailer on ET..and well..

I dunno..the CG in it bit, and that whole helicopter thing..come on...would he really spend the time doing that? I just hope that's not in the movie. I'll still go and see it, it just better not suck majorally...like the trailer does...

Yeah..and the trailer was on TONIGHT (Thursday, not Friday). It should be up for download tomorrow, right? Maybe I was just waiting for somthing to suck in the trailer..I dunno. I did like the outfit though..but the way he flung down from the building..I dunno...

Yeah, I gotta say I wasn't too terribly thrilled by the trailer myself. But, then again, I'm not a big Spidey fan, so maybe its just me.

The teaser trailer was shot just for that purpose and is NOT in the movie. They're going to be doing some more post production work to fine tune the cgi. I'm looking forward to it ALOT. One thing that people have to keep in mind is that Spider-Man is not a "grim and gritty" character like our beloved Dark Knight, so the movie is going to be alot lighter in tone. I think that the film should've been based off of FF7 (or at least had more of the game's elements but that's just my opinion).

I'm a bit iffy on the trailer. While it was good, it just left a weird taste in my mouth. I would've at least like to have seen MaGuire put on the mask or show his face. And yeah, the way he caught the helicopter was a bit weird. I never knew he had that much strenght.

I'll give is a 6/10. Good effort with a weird executuion. Raimi does a good job directing the action, though. It would've been hilarious if Spidey said "Hail to the King, baby" into the camera at the end...

Well the giant web thing was kinda weird. I can't recall him doing that in the comics I have read. However, if it was done solely for the trailer as NW38116 said, I can see the point. There a man that's a spider that's fighting crime. In the words of Stan Lee, Nuff said.

but I thought the webslinging part was awesome. That is exactly how I'd picture it happening.

The way he flung down from the building was great IMO. And when he gets to the end of his web and flexes getting ready to shoot another. I mean that part just seemed right on for me.

DG- I thought it was the other Raimi brother that did Evil Dead. Am I wrong? At any rate at least Campbell will be in it for a minute.

Hmmm...it might be helpful if posters would only reply to threads started in the last 30 days.

I agree with Cal, but certain exceptions apply. This thread was sorta of 'at the time', and not timeless, like the Avatar thread. And for the record, the "new" Spidey trailer won't be in theatres until December. ALI is supposed to have both MIB2 and Spidey.

Anyways...back to the attic for this thread...
