Detective is quickly becoming my favorite comic again. Another well written story by Rucka with beautiful art. I don't know about the rest of you, but I for one am happy that this book has returned to a normal color scheme.
Like the last issue, the book is more pleasnt to the eye. It flows better. It really enhances Rucka's story. This is one of the few books that I can say is actually worth the money I pay for it. Once again I am not let down.
Does Allen really think he can break Alfred? There's no one more loyal than Alfred. It was amusing reading Allen threaten Alfred. It's not like anyone is going to pin down Team Bat. This does raise a question. Sasha is still in jail, so how long before she starts telling secrets? I hope she is killed by another inmate. Maybe that's just me?
The ending, does anyone think that thug with the gun is going to take down Batman? I loved the ending.

I think Batman has Sasha, scared. I think she's PART of the Plot on Bruce. But Batman Probably Threatened her, and she'd be in Greater danger if she spilled the beans.

Sasha seems like a loose end. Maybe the writers have just forgot about her?

There is no way the writers could just forget about her, especially since she's been playing such a huge role in the books since her introduction. They have something planned for her...but what?

That's the million dollar question. I think it would be best if they just kill her somehow. If she's part of it. I see her saying who Batman is while in the gas chamber. Kind of like the Superman TAS episode.

I know one thing. The fellow who held a gun to Batman's head at the end of the book is in for a world of hurt next issue.

I love this stuff. The story really does flow better, and I know why. Greg and Steve live in the same city, and meet to talk about once a week (although I'm sure phone conversations are more frequent). I was actually there when they were talking about Steve's first issue on the title. Lemme tell ya, these guys just click. And it shows by how great this book is.
Sasha's not a loose end. Just wait.

A-MEN to that! Can't wait to see how bad this guy gets crushed.
This book has been so awesome for so long now - hate to see Rucka leave
I could see them getting Bruce and Sasha together down the line...we know she loves him. If she stays loyal to him throughout this ordeal...who knows??? Superman has Lois, Sasha might be perfect for Bruce, if he ever comes back...She's tough, knows his secret, is loyal...those 'Tec stories when she was training in the cave and her facial expressions on her first Knight out...just brilliant stuff!!!!
Crispus break Alfred??? PLEASE! Loved the last frame of Alfred just smirking as they left...PRICELESS!
'TEC is the best book of the lot!

Batman shouldn't be in love and he shouldn't compromise his idenity to a girl

I don't think Sasha is meant to be a long term love interest for Bruce. I remember Rucka talking about her quite a while back, when it was announced he was leaving Detective. From what I remember, he said something along the lines of her not being around after this storyline, or her part in it all being tied up by the end.

So what you're saying is Batman can't be human? Everyone falls in love, it's part of life.
And he didn't choose to compromise his ID, but it was kinda tough with a bodyguard that insisted on following him everywhere.

Besides, its really something they have never really touched upon before. Most of the women in the past were with Bruce...Vicki, Silver St. Cloud (although she did know he was Batman), Shondra Kinsolving, Vesper...Sasha is different because she is already a part of the Batman's world, where everyone else was a part of Bruce Waynes. I think it would be interesting.

Yeah, I agree. Although I'm a big Bat/Cat fan, I wouldn't mind Sasha as an alternate love interest. 'Cause I find her to be an interesting character, too.

Couldn't have said it better myself.
The ending was very powerfull. Winick is quickly on the rise as a writer whose stuff I'll gladly pick up just by name.

Hehe. Umm, actually, I think you misunderstood his comment there. I believe he meant that he didn't even bother to read the Josie Mac story because it was so terrible. And I'd agree. I can't stand Winick and his work, and am rather disappointed that they wasted so many pages on his terrible story.

I'm glad Josie Mac is over. That story just did nothing for me. She was a lot like that DEO agent Chase from Moench's run. I'm looking forward the Question backups that are coming according to Rucka.

It's got more to go. At the end of this part it said "To be continued..."
What exactly is wrong, do you think, with the Josie back-ups? I've thought they were very well written, mainly as character stories (seeing as how the main plot, the kidnapped child, has gone on without an end in sight, which is Winick's problem - plots)
I've been a fan of the 'Tec back-ups, even of The Jacobian, which I couldn't stand to read every month, strictly because they exist. I'm glad we have the back-up stories in 'Tec and GK every month, as it's sort of a testing ground for new concepts and characters, and can also effectively get people excited about a character no one has cared about it years (Catwoman).

I've never liked the back-up's of TEC. Unlike Gotham Knights I have never been compelled to read one of the TEC stories. I've read parts of them, but just could never finish them. Usally I can look at the art and see the story it tells and close the book never going to that section again.
You want to give us a back-up in a Batman comic book? Try include a character we care about from the title we are buying. I'd rather see what Alfred does during the day then read Josie.

Never liked the 'Tec backups either (except for Slam Bradley!), but I am looking forward to the Question/Huntress one! Wish it woulda been a mini, though...

I read this on the bus. I like Alfred handling those cops. "This seems to be a ploy to -- What is the word...bilk the G.C.P.D. out of an airfare th the carribean. Perhaps to see him with your own eyes?"
The Purity story is going great as well. As for Josie Mac, yeah I read it. I payed for the book. Anyway, it's amusing in it's own pathetic little way. It was her father in the oil drum. Heh heh heh.

I said what was wrong with it. I don't like it. I don't mind if other people do, it just does nothing for me. I would much prefer a return of The Shadow (Still owned by DC?) or something cool like that.

I liked this issue of Detective, although Ekin-Tzu(spelling?) is a funky looking villain. As for the Josie Mac backup, I kinda like it, I mean, I wish there was a good Batman backup, but Josie Mac isn't that bad.

The Purity Saga comes to an end. In my opinion the last two issues were wonderful. The conclusion wasn't as good as the first two parts, but it wasn't that bad. It set up more of a Batman vs. Lex Luthor battle. Could this be a sign of things to come?
The artwork wasn't as good as the last two issues either, but anything is better than the 2 color Detective we had to suffer for a very long time.
What does everyone think about this Checkmate? Is this a sign of things to come with Luthor or just a swerve at the real killer's id?
One other thing I had problems with this book. It seemed like every page was sticking together. Did this happen to anyone else or should I worry?

That Said character could prove to be an interesting ally/adversary for Batman.
On another note, does anyone else feel that the artwork for Det. Comics is far superior to the other Batbooks?

I agree. While I still like it, I find McDaniel's and Lieber's art to be superior.
I enjoyed this issue, and I haven't really been enjoying the Purity storyline too much. I'm just wondering how they're going to make the inevitable Fugitive trade. It's gonna wind up smaller than Murderif all they do is take the 2 pages from each book that ties-in.
And Kathy Kane - You won't find a bigger group of Josie bashers. These guys and gals can't seem to stand her at all.

I thought Josie was a guy till a few weeks ago. :) I avoid it. I would pull the pages out if it wouldn't ruin my book.
I have to agree. I enjoy the stories in Gotham Knights a lot. The art just isn't the best.

[indent]I just started getting this title at the first part of Purity. Luckily I think I jumped in at a good time where most of it made sense. I like Josie Mac. It's a refreshing change of pace from the superhero books. Plus, it adds a detective besides Batman to "Detective Comics". I was surprised to see Batman show up in the latest issue although it was interesting to see Batman through Josie's eyes. Why do others seem to hate Josie Mac?
