If it is April folls thing, you´re sad. But if it is real, he have no good exemple for a serious series. He worked with B:TBATB . But this could mean something GC for us? I thing the next X-Men american series should be CG.

He's certainly an odd choice and I wouldn't really call him a DC Executive as he's only worked on Brave and the Bold and the new Green Lantern DTV.

Not to cast aspersions on him but all his credits are co-story editor on BatB for 2 episodes, associate producer on G.I.Joe Resolute, and has written 3 episodes of Transformers Animated and 10 of BatB. He hasn't done that much to be given the job of 'Director of Development for animation' and there's nothing to say he won't be good at it, just that there's also nothing to say he won't be bad at it either.

From what he said at WonderCon he's just got the job. He's going to be a major piece in stepping up Marvel Animation now that the Lionsgate deal is done.

...which doesn't mean that he hasn't done those jobs well, and impressed his peers with his contributions or performance. He may be an excellent organizer and manager - which is more in line with his current duties. My point is that your criticism is unfair, as you have no idea of his actual role and contribution levels, his IMDB profile notwithstanding - those listings are useful, but only to a small degree.

I wouldn't be surprised if there's work he's done that didn't manage to make it on to his Imdb page, which seems to be something pretty common with animation credits as far as I can tell. I'll just assume that his Imdb page isn't fully representative of his experience or of the connections he may have made during his time in the field. Just googling his name brings up something like his involvement in the DC Showcase: The Spectre short, where he was the one to suggest that Steve Niles get the writing duties and he was also the one to contact him for the job which leads me to think that he could have lots more behind the scenes experience than we'd know about. All in all, as fans looking in, we really have no idea why he may have been chosen or what he brings to the table but I think we can certainly hope that good things come from this.

I wasn't trying to be negative just pointing out how odd it is since he hasn't done that much. True we don't know exactly what his new job entails or what he'd done behind the scenes previously, so we could end up never hearing his name again.

Should be good, I maybe he might get to do a few episodes of "Ultimate Spiderman".

Like a good IT manager, if we never hear his name again, it likely means he's doing an excellent job!

Could Josh Fine be GONE from Marvel Animation??

Goodbye party for my predecessor, Josh Fine -- he's left quite a legacy here at Marvel. Best of luck to him on his future career

Wow . . . just wow. Mr. Fine did not last long after the Disney buyout.

Who said that Disney wouldn't interfere with Marvel's affairs? Don't be shy now.

Nobody knows whether or not this would have happened without Disney buying Marvel. The fact of the matter is people make moves all the time. *shrugs* Given the - pun not intended - fine job he did on the Avengers, I'm not at all surprised he might have gotten better offers.

Good luck to him, wherever he goes from here. I guess he's really leaving on a high note with the Avengers series.

Yeah, I'm sad to see him go, but I can't wait for him to announce his next gig - I'm sure it'll be worth following! :)

Doesn't he need to stick around to finish the last 13 episodes of A:EMH season 2, or am I wrong about that?

 :crying:

Oops looks like I was right. Also, the buyout was announced in 2009 and made official in 2010. So Fine was still there over a year after the buyout. Maybe he felt it was time and is looking to move into a different area or company. Maybe he's getting a promotion somewhere else, we don't really know. This is the nature of the business. Just for example, Craig Kyle was the former vice president of Marvel Animation and worked on a lot of the projects over the last several years before he moved over into the live action wing.

Fine was always great to us and he will be missed. He left a great legacy at the company and was responsible for a move toward really solid, natural and realistic storytelling. Fine really understands how great the medium of animation is and how it means seeing these characters as they were meant to be shown. Live action tends to compromise the integrity and material of these characters quite often, while animation is more wide open.

So thank you to Josh Fine for giving us the Avengers show we always wanted to see. And Wolverine and the X-men, and the Madhouse anime. And Superhero Squad.

It'll be sad to see Josh go, he's overseen some of the best stuff to ever come out of Marvel animation. Goodbye Mr. Fine, truely it was a golden age.

Really sad to hear this news but i do hope the Avengers still be as awesome even with Josh Fine's departure.
